So you assume this mayor, 150 miles away, is shady (takes bribes, kickbacks)

No, but fed up citizens who aren't pleased with bribes or kickbacks taken by this mayor might. That's what I got from that part of the story - that the mayor is "for sale", not that they were trying to sell his house out from underneath him.

I mean, it *is* Louisiana, after all.

Or maybe they just wanted him to take the hint and move.
If only 10 people are against everything he does, that's not a bad approval rating in a town of nearly 3000. Too bad those 10 are so outspoken.
Anyway, since it is a predominantly white town odds are it was a white person doing the shooting, but does that make it racial?

I thought it was interesting because the cops said it was a suicide, yet you'd have to wonder why a newly elected mayor would kill himself. I would be more likely to suspect foul play.

This other mayor, the subject of the story, his plight is assumed to be racism, yet there is no reason to believe that at all.

I'm from Florida, and I've seen more racism up here than down there. The only people I've ever seen use the n word in person are usually black and usually directing it at either a white person in anger or a black friend, kinda like "homie."
