I came home from work last night to find my baby girl passed away. She was a young 9 yr old (German) German Shepherd in excellent health. She always seemed sad since her 9 yr old brother passed away 9 months ago (I hate the number 9 now). But I gave her plenty of love and affection and she had the best of everything.
It was so hard to have to close her eyes and cover her with a sheet not knowing what happened. Then having to take her to the vet...it was a horrible night for me. I lost my only 2 kids in less than a year.
I had the vet do an autopsy and she passed from a ruptured splenic mass. In just one day of talking about this with my friends, family and 2 vets I heard of several dogs unexpectedly passing away from this. I question why this is not something that is checked for once dogs get into there senior years...
ACVS - Splenic Masses in Dogs
My baby girl is now in heaven with her little brother fighting over bones and chasing squrirels. Rest in peace, daddy misses you both with all his heart. Abbi- April 1, 2003 - April 23, 2012; Dino- May 24, 2002 - July 3, 2011.
