To get to Ocean City...

Do you have to go all the way to Annapolis, or is there a ferry or bridge across the Chesepeake somewhere down south?

You have to go to Annapolis and get on 50 East. Wanna follow me? I'm leaving in an hour for OC.

No, in that case it's closer to go to Va Beach, I was just looking for something different.

Virginia Beach is nice, too. Been there, also. I like Virginia Beach because you can ride bikes all day along the beach front there. They have a bike lane along the boardwalk.

I grew up vacationing in OC, though, so I am partial to it. Personally, I think OC is laid out better. The stores and arcades, etc. are along the boardwalk in OC.

But wait, there's more...
Quitcher beachin' and find a lake someplace. You'll have less traffic, less tourists, and less "elements" to worry about (jellyfish, sharks, tides/currents/undertoe, etc). I've not yet been, but I hear Lake Gaston (on the border of VA & NC) is beautiful and peaceful. I know a few peeps who go there for weekends, and I'm looking into finding a cabin to take DQ up for a long weekend when she gets back. I'm sure there are lakes closer to you as well that offer something similar. :yay:

I never understood peoples' desire to take a vacation (usually a thing for relaxation) and then sit in 6 hours of traffic each way, deal with thousands of tourists/crowds, long lines for restaurants and attractions, etc. That doesn't sound very "relaxing" to me, but to each his own.

Usta be a ferry in the "old school days"-ought bring it back! Knowin our greedy politicians-they'd rather have a gamblin boat.
BTW-wear a flak jacket so ya don't get the snot beat outta ya by the "young guns" in OC.

We have to make U-turns to go anywhere too. It's a PITA.
But I love the beach, so we do what we gotta do.

Christopher Run Campground in Mineral,VA has cabins to rent. To really enjoy it though you need a watercraft of some sort, and it can get very crowded on the weekends.

I'm sure there are others who have driven it more than I, but Va. Beach is farther away than OC (both in mileage and in time). Don't be fooled by how it may appear on a map.

3 hours to OC 4 to Va beach. The bad thing about OC is there are no good alternate rtes. to get there.

It took us an hour to get from Lewes to Rehoboth on Saturday. It's gotten terrible there!

Go Braves!
I think Bustem is over in VA so VA Beach is closer for him.

I haven't been to OC in about 7 years. And don't have any plans to go there anytime in the future:lol:

After the bridge on 50, go east on 404 at Wye Mills, east on 18, then south on 113. Puts you back on 50 10 miles east of OC.

Have you tried the RT 50 route since the Salisbury bypass? Big improvement and you can unwind it in the 65 mph zone.

Rt.50 reminds me of driving on the beltway. I prefer the 2 lane roads thru the countryside. If I'm going to OC, it's to kick back and relax, don't want the competitive nature of driving on a super slab so I'm all jacked up when I get there.
Besides, it's legal to sunburn the top of your head in DE.

You had me at "after the bridge". That's the bottle neck you can't get around that I was refering to. Ok, Camily, I guess the bridge tunnel might be fun. I did that loop one weekend. Stopped in Crisfield and a couple other little places.
