Do you have to go all the way to Annapolis, or is there a ferry or bridge across the Chesepeake somewhere down south?
No, in that case it's closer to go to Va Beach, I was just looking for something different.sdm said:You have to go to Annapolis and get on 50 East. Wanna follow me? I'm leaving in an hour for OC.
I love having to make a U turn to go anywhwere in OCsdm said:Personally, I think OC is laid out better.
Usta be a ferry in the "old school days"-ought bring it back! Knowin our greedy politicians-they'd rather have a gamblin boat.Bustem' Down said:Do you have to go all the way to Annapolis, or is there a ferry or bridge across the Chesepeake somewhere down south?

Christopher Run Campground in Mineral,VA has cabins to rent. To really enjoy it though you need a watercraft of some sort, and it can get very crowded on the weekends.crabcake said:Quitcher beachin' and find a lake someplace. You'll have less traffic, less tourists, and less "elements" to worry about (jellyfish, sharks, tides/currents/undertoe, etc). I've not yet been, but I hear Lake Gaston (on the border of VA & NC) is beautiful and peaceful. I know a few peeps who go there for weekends, and I'm looking into finding a cabin to take DQ up for a long weekend when she gets back. I'm sure there are lakes closer to you as well that offer something similar.![]()
I never understood peoples' desire to take a vacation (usually a thing for relaxation) and then sit in 6 hours of traffic each way, deal with thousands of tourists/crowds, long lines for restaurants and attractions, etc. That doesn't sound very "relaxing" to me, but to each his own.
Whatchu know about Mineral Va??kom526 said:Christopher Run Campground in Mineral,VA has cabins to rent. To really enjoy it though you need a watercraft of some sort, and it can get very crowded on the weekends.

3 hours to OC 4 to Va beach. The bad thing about OC is there are no good alternate rtes. to get there.CrashTest said:I'm sure there are others who have driven it more than I, but Va. Beach is farther away than OC (both in mileage and in time). Don't be fooled by how it may appear on a map.
It took us an hour to get from Lewes to Rehoboth on Saturday. It's gotten terrible there!Nanny Pam said:![]()
We have to make U-turns to go anywhere too. It's a PITA.
But I love the beach, so we do what we gotta do.
After the bridge on 50, go east on 404 at Wye Mills, east on 18, then south on 113. Puts you back on 50 10 miles east of OC.desertrat said:The bad thing about OC is there are no good alternate rtes. to get there.
Have you tried the RT 50 route since the Salisbury bypass? Big improvement and you can unwind it in the 65 mph zone.aps45819 said:After the bridge on 50, go east on 404 at Wye Mills, east on 18, then south on 113. Puts you back on 50 10 miles east of OC.
Rt.50 reminds me of driving on the beltway. I prefer the 2 lane roads thru the countryside. If I'm going to OC, it's to kick back and relax, don't want the competitive nature of driving on a super slab so I'm all jacked up when I get there.willie said:Have you tried the RT 50 route since the Salisbury bypass? You had me at "after the bridge". That's the bottle neck you can't get around that I was refering to. Ok, Camily, I guess the bridge tunnel might be fun. I did that loop one weekend. Stopped in Crisfield and a couple other little places.aps45819 said:After the bridge on 50, go east on 404 at Wye Mills, east on 18, then south on 113. Puts you back on 50 10 miles east of OC.
