You had me at "after the bridge". That's the bottle neck you can't get around that I was refering to. Ok, Camily, I guess the bridge tunnel might be fun. I did that loop one weekend. Stopped in Crisfield and a couple other little places.
I've never taken the tunnel but I would love to. I'm thinking the underground rest area would be cool. :yay:

I think Bustem is over in VA so VA Beach is closer for him.

I haven't been to OC in about 7 years. And don't have any plans to go there anytime in the future:lol:
Yeah, I'm in King George. And no I don't want to go to Colonial Beach

The Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel. Runs from Virginia Beach/Norfolk to the very tip of eastern Virginia in Cape Charles (south of Chincoteague) and into Maryland via Route 13. It's a very pretty and scenic trip. :yay:
Yeah, I know that, but that's one hellavah drive! I'd have to go 2 hours down to Norfolk and then another 2 to 3 hours up to OC.

Do you have to go all the way to Annapolis, or is there a ferry or bridge across the Chesepeake somewhere down south?

If you find a different way (other than flying) please let me know. :yay:

The last time I went across that bridge it cost $20. That was back almost 19 years ago. Do you know what the toll is today?

I've not yet been, but I hear Lake Gaston (on the border of VA & NC) is beautiful and peaceful.
We went there for Memorial Day weekend and loved it, hopefully we'll be invited back for Labor Day. We were on the NC side but I doubt it matters. T loved playing in the lake and there wasn't really much boat traffic (I mean there were lots of boaters but it was still safe for the kids to go tubing) I think CMC visits there as well.

On a side note, if you do any amount of traveling at all you should consider getting an E-Z Pass, usually saves tons of time waiting in those backed up toll lines. Just link it to a credit card so it can renew as needed and your funds will never expire.

If you are into camping then you need to try North bend Park at Kerr dam.

( outer loop of the "D" section is the best)

It's not bad. You get used to it. Live down there a while and it won't take long for you to curse the people that slow down to about 30 in those thing. You'd think if they scared you you'd go as fast as you can through them.
