I don't care how hot it is, I'll be infinitely happier on the way home. Cold beer waiting, faithful dog at the door, no whiners to deal with etc, etc.

I like the sound of a Harley with stock pipes, it has a nice low pitch rumble.. the ear splitting noise is just that, noise.
I wouldn't rice out a Porchse and make it sound like a $50 car from the local junkyard why do it to a 20K bike??
or an $8k Sporster. Guess everybody has to try it onceitsbob said:I wouldn't rice out a Porchse and make it sound like a $50 car from the local junkyard why do it to a 20K bike??
Hubby's an AARP member, so he can't hear the pipes anyway. Or my spoke-cards and bike-bell.aps45819 said:or an $8k Sporster. Guess everybody has to try it once
Riding behind somebody with straight pipes totally sucks, guaranteed headach
Try going with after market slip-on mufflers instead of a whole system. Costs a lot less and not quite as annoying but you still get a more throaty sound.
I'm an AMA member and every month in their magazine are reports of more and more cities and towns passing noise ordinances aimed at motorcycles. All it takes is a Radio Shack Db meter and the laws stand up in court. If you vehical is deemed illegal to run on their streets, you either push it out of town or it gets impounded.

It'll be hot as hell on 235 when you get off work
I had Cobra slip-on mufflers on my last bike. At low rpm (hood in the morning), it was almost as quiet as stock. Crack the throttle and it had a nice roar.onebdzee said:I don't plan on getting pipes that the little 'ol deaf lady a mile and a half away can hear when I start her up in my driveway....I'm just going to get some that make a little more noise(and won't leave you with a headache if you follow me)

Still couldn't set off car alarms
If you do change them, SAVE THE STOCK PIPES/MUFFLERS.
You'll need them (or the buyer will) to pass inspection if you ever sell it.
A lot of aftermarket pipe web sites now have sound clips of how they sound, do some reasearch before you plunk down your money. Also investigate if the new pipes will require you to re-jet your carbs.onebdzee said:That's too loud....best friends pipes are like that and that's just headache material
This is the second set he's had on his the first set sounded close to what I want(not too loud, not to quite)
