How would you like to be the poor sap stuck in the middle of these two in coach!??

And I believe the one on the right is a woman waiting in an airport during the blizzard for her flight.

:yikes:

Thing1 & Thing2 fly SWA to FL 2-3 times a year to see their dad. They would be squashed like bugs sitting next to some big two-ton Annie like them! Especially Thing1.

Those heifers need to pay for more than 1 or 2 seats! :lmao:

Silent Bob is a wealthy person and could certainly afford two seats. And he certainly wouldn't be comfortable being jammed in one little seat. I think this is bull and he's only making a stink to garner publicity.

and you have to wonder was he is first class where the seats are twice as large or was his cheap ass back in coach.

So that begs the question, why would he be flying a discount airline that does not offer first class and not a major carrier that DOES have first class seating?

Two SWA tickets are cheaper than single business class or first class on any other airline.

Charter members of NAAFA (National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance) There really is such an organization if you believe WUSA9 news this evening.

Maybe the airline should not be embarrassed about the reality that some people are so large they create risk for everyone else.

I'd agree with that but, when Vrail, a smaller than average woman, can't fit comfortably, there is a problem with the airliners. We were on a Continental flight sometime back and she had zero room between her and the seat in front and I sat splayed leg the entire flight.

I think if an airliner comes out and says "Our seats are 20% larger and we have 20% fewer passengers and we cost 20% more" that people will, happily, pay $50 more to be comfortable on a flight rather than a sardine.

I ran the numbers but don't remember the details. Point was, for $50 a ticket, they can go something like 20% more room and 20% less people AND pick up cargo room from less bags, save on passenger weight.

I just think they are all scared to innovate.

I think that would be a great idea but it still appeals to the "normal" sized passenger.
Many of these planes are several years old. What is the cost to refurb one and make it fat friendly?
How much would a 50% increase in seat size and row space cost? Or 100%?

What happens if/when fat people make it onto the recognized disabilities list and qualify for ADA?

I think, and I do not know, configuring seats is relatively easy.

It seems to me a typical flight costs somewhere around $15,000 just to break even. If a 737 is seating 130 people at about $250 each, round trip, that's about $16,250 for one leg of a trip. Make a few bucks. Some people pay more, some less, etc, etc and I do not know the cargo dollars and all flights are not 100% full.

So, if we just go with the $16,250 as the goal and make the ticket $150 per leg instead of $125 that is 108 people to make the same dollars, 17% more room. Less sodas, less peanuts, less passenger weight, less baggage weight, more room for other cargo.

The biggest reason I hear is that they make most of their money on business travelers and those people MUST go cheapest most of the time so, comfort is not a consideration.

How about long leg friendly...
It would be nice if they could accommodate you giants as well:buddies:

To be honest I hate sitting in front of tall people as much as I hate sitting there getting squashed by a fat person. Sit in front of a tall person and you cannot get comfortable at all because they will b1tch, piss and moan when you try to lean your seat back even just a little bit.
