Ok parents, what is the going rate per tooth from the Tooth Fairy? My little one was upset with what she received this morning.....
She told me the dentist told her each tooth was worth $10...... :ohwell:

we accidently started a tradition the first tooth they got $1 gave them $2 for the second cause we felt cheap with the first one.(3rd $3, 4th $4) After we realized that was gona get outa hand giving a cost of living raise with every tooth. We set the cap at $10 then it goes down $1 for every tooth after the tenth one. :yay:

You would think that all the kids would talk and ask each other how much the tooth fairy brings them and then wonder why they all get different amounts of money.

We usually give $5. But then one of my kids found out a friend of hers got $20 and asked me why. I knew the friend had pulled out her tooth so, trying to come up with something to tell my DD, I said the TF gives $20 if you pull out your own tooth because it's so much harder. Well you know after that my kids started pulling out their loose teeth and I'm now coughing up $20/tooth!

I like to leave a little treat instead of money ....... coloring book & crayons, small handheld game, or something like that. You can stick several things in a bag, hide it somewhere and then pull something out as needed.

thats what I do! I remember when I was young we got a dime and new crayons and coloring book. I don't leave a dime but I do leave little things like that with a couple of bucks.

We used to get fifty cents! Today kids seem to get much more. I think my step-sons get $10-$20. I think that's ridiculous myself.

My inlaws gave my kids $5 and a webkinz for their first ones. They've gotten $1-$2 for the rest of them.

There's just something a little weird about a "fairy" that sneaks into a childs bedroom at night and takes their newly lost tooth from beneath their pillow. What does he/she want with millions of little kids teeth?

My daughter actually asked me why would a fairy want all those little kid teeth. I thought for a moment and quickly came up with "she throws them into the sky and they turn into stars".

Then I wiped the back of my hand across my forehead, and thought..."Shoo!".

Of course, about a year later, I forgot to sneak in and put $$ under her pillow. She woke up sobbing saying that the tooth fairy forgot her. Normally I am quick on my feet and would have said something like, "maybe it was a busy night, put it back and she will probably get to it tomorrow"

Instead, I freaked out:jameo: and said, "IT'S ME! I am SO SORRY... I am the tooth fairy"... She stopped sobbing and said.....

"What?" :faint:

Now she tells everyone I wasn't a good tooth fairy. I just know I will never live that one down. Luckily. She still hasn't figured out the Easter bunny or Santa Claus. :yahoo:

I hate to break it to you...she's leading you on...When I was in the 2nd grade, there was this boy telling everyone that Santa was fake. There was this whole debate going on. I confronted my mother. She said Santa wasn't real :banghead:

I was devastated. :bawl: I said, "I suppose that means the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy aren't real either." If I'd thought it through I would have kept my mouth shut....

The only saving grace was that I had a brother that wasn't yet 2 yrs old. So Mom swore me to secrecy for his sake. When he got old enough to suspect the fantasy, he approached my older brother and me, instead of my parents. We told him he should never, ever admit that he suspected that Santa et. al. weren't real. He never did. Mom didn't stop getting up in the middle of the night to put out presents until little brother moved out at the age of 25.

My mother told me that when my older brother was about 6, Dad decided that he needed to know about Santa. Brother was so heartbroken, they didn't dare tell me until I asked them first. I was so upset, they didn't want to tell my younger brother at all.

My oldest is 9. I THINK, he still believes because he is the type of child who creates his own fantasy figures to believe in. My younger boy was playing a game one day that had all sorts of fairies as characters... he tells me, "The Tooth Fairy is the only one of the fairies who is REAL." He's a little more grounded in reality, but he's only 6. If they ever approach me on the subject, I will deny it. I'm such a goof, they won't believe me, but they will humor me and a little bit of doubt will remain. I figure that's the best way to make everyone happy. They don't need to spoil my fantasy. I prefer to remain ignorant of the fact they are outgrowing it.

Well, my husband and I usually put about 2-4 dollars under the pillow. You need to remind the kids that when you were younger, the tooth fairy only left a quarter or two! lol! Our daughter is really happy with the money she gets...usually goes out and buys some gum or candy!

We've had that discussion too, but instead of telling her he's not real, I have always said that "Santa is real if you believe in him" and whenever she questions it that is all I say.

Leading me on or not, she tells anyone who says he's not real that he is real to her because she believes in him, and most people can't argue that. She knows that alot of people don't believe but it doesn't matter to her.

I don't mind one bit...my husband says its over, but its not:evil: at least not until she says "I don't believe, anymore."

But I did make it harder on myself by blowing my Tooth Fairy Cover!

:howdy: i guess to figure out what the tooth fairy should give is to look at what the tooth fairy gave and would it be enough to buy something with...if not then add a little more..

Last night I was out until after the kids went to bed. After I came home, the husband tell me that #2 wants to surprise me in the morning with the information that he'd lost a tooth....Hubby had to spoil the surprise, because he didn't know where my stash of gold dollars was.

So, the boy wakes up this morning and immediately comes to find me to show me his shiny new dollar.
