Not if it leaves you stranded on the side of road. Ya'll are ranting and raving over taxes, they aren't going to be that much on 96 car. Mom and Dad will cover it. If Mom and Dad are letting the child submit an essay to win, then they can afford to insure it and pay the taxes on it just so they can run up and down the roads and talk on the cell phone.

Perhaps you should read the article.

I'm guessing (because you assumed hers would) that your parents would do this for you. Mine have taught me to stand on my own. Buy your own first car, your own insurance and you need gas so get a job. Not to say they wouldn't help with my education but only if I was making a clear effort to try to support myself.

Tough love I guess. Why would you assume that her parents should foot the bill for this? She's an "adult" student trying to better her situation through an education.

I guess as a starving student you would have turned it down when you learned it was 13 y/o :drama:

Bet you look gift horses in the mouth as well, huh? :smack:

Oh please, talk about your :drama: "a starving student"? Show me a starving student in SOMD and I'll show you pigs can fly!!! I had a used car when I was young. Well, first of all, I didn't drive like these idiots around here. I didn't get my license until I was 18. Secondly, my "used" car was a graduation gift from my parents....1977 Mustang II and I loved it. Thirdly, I paid for my insurance and my gas and oh gee, the things that went wrong with the car. Oh, but wait, I was a "starving" working female who didn't make much money and couldn't afford to replace the front brakes on the car to the tune of $400.00. So don't you dare sit there and preach to me about turning down a vehicle!!!

Excuse me? I think you need to also preach to everyone else on here who has happened to JUMP MY AZZ to also read the article. Not one person on here has said anything and the title of this was TOYOTA OF SOUTHERN MARYLAND IS CHEAP. If you want to B*tch, Whine, Moan and Complain, I suggest you do it to the person who started this thread.

I can show you many students who have little to nothing right now, except for the education they are striving for.

Don't preach to me about your free car :wah:, didn't get my license until I was :wah:, paid for my own way :wah:, you are the ONLY working female in SOMD :wah:... Please, save your blow-hard comments and go buy a pack of "D" batteries - sounds like you need the big "O" so settle down. :pete:

Calling Toyota of Southern Maryland is unfair, I dont see any other dealers in Southern Maryland giving away cars wether its 13yrs old or not, that Toyota could last another 10 years, they are tough cars. This is the second car that has been given away by them since June.

Do you really think an american car company can afford to give away a coffee cup, let alone a CAR right now? :killingme:

Oh Yippiee Skippee!! A 13 Year old car!!! Wonder how much work will have to go into it before it runs worth a damn? :lmao:

Right, the key word is HOPEFULLY!!! Hopefully there is a warranty. Hopefully, if they have problems, they can bring it back with no charge. Hopefully, hopefully, hopefully!!!!

:pete:These were the only comments that sounded ungratefull.
No one else was b*tching, whinning, moaning or complaining.
And that includes the one who started the thread.

What I got out of huntr1 's comments was the car could have been a newer model.
