Trailer Break Controllers

I have the Tekonsha Primus IQ controller and love it. 1997 Suburban K1500 pulling an 8.5x18 trailer with an extra foot in height. 3000 lbs empty, no idea what it is when loaded with the troop gear. When I set the controller to B2, I can feel the trailer actually slowing the truck when I hit the brakes. No lock up on the tires or anything, I can just feel it pulling a bit, which is comforting. When the controller is connected, it displays .C. which means all good. When not connected correctly, it lets me know, but I don't remember what it says, maybe a - instead of the C. There is a read out on the unit that tells how much brake power is being applied when I hit the brakes.

I pull my trailer with an '05 chevy silverado and I use the Prodigy brake controller, I can't remember the whole name but if you get it with the correct years harness it should be easy to install. I wouldn't drive a trailer without the brakes and lots of time the light won't work if the brakes don't. I think it is proportional and I had the time delayed but it was awful.

I just installed a Tekonsha P3 brake controller in the truck.
Installed it with the Chevy wiring harness.
Trailer is not hooked up.

Damn thing stays powered ON with the engine off.
No Power button on the damn thing.

I do not want it draining the battery.
And I want to keep it hooked up, so the wifey doesn't have to touch it.

How To Turn Off The Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controller # 90195

Question:

I have the P3 brake unit. I dont pull very often, how do I turn it off other then unplugging.

The Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Brake Controller, # 90195, does not have an on and off switch. It will go into sleep mode after several minutes of no activity. The power draw when it is in the sleep mode is so negligible that it will not discharge the battery

If you are towing a Horse Trailer, with horses, you better have brakes! You are using the same brake controller I am using in my F-150 and it is worth every penny, you pay for what you get.

It works great.
By the way, Chevy is better than Ford.
