Trash help needed

Is there any other trash curb side pick up in the golden beach area? Waste Management is the worst. I have a green tote and if my trash is not in bags inside my tote they refuse to take it.

Just throw it in the truck and take it to the local trash site.

I thought there was an ordinance in Calvert stipulating that you have to have a pickup and a boat to live here.

Ooops. My bad, Golden Beach is Charles, isn't it?

Sorry.

Another solution is to gift wrap it and leave it on the back seat of your car at the mall. It'll get picked up!

I gave up on the trash services in SOMD. I have a 3x6x4 foot wooden box with a hinged lid 3 feet off the road for my trash. If the trash was not removed from the box and placed on the side of the road, the trashmen would not take it. Of course, if I took the trash out of the box, it would end up strewn all over the place by dogs/animals getting into it. I just go to the dump weekly.

I used Waste Management for years and never had any trouble with them. I'd always put things beside my tote and they always take it. Have you tried calling Waste Management and asking them what the problem is?

yes, they tell me its there policy to put things in bags before putting it into the tote. I have a suv so i really don't want to put alot of trash in it, but it looks like i have no choice.

One easy solution is to put your trash into bags.. how difficult is that? I'm sorry trash cans don't come with remote controls, and they won't line themselves, but it semms like an easy enough solution..

2 what Ylexot said..

3. Look at the Hitch-Haul site. (those on the site priced at 150+ can be had at Wal-Mart (same brand for) a little more then $50.

it just seems to me the whole idea of a tote is to put bags and loose trash in it. And i don't mind using the utility part of my suv with trash except i would have to empty it of all the sports equipement and emergency cold weather accessories i keep in there this time of year.

And after driving over the Bridge commuting for a couple of years, and loookin at all the loose trash strewn on both sides of Rt 4, I can understand why they don't want loose trash in their trucks.. I didn't see any bags of trash on the side of the road.

:yeahthat: Doesn't your contract with waste mamagement say you need to do this?
Trash must be bagged. If you have more bags than fit in the container you can ask to have 2 containers. You can also leave it bagged, next to the container if the container is full. All boxes must be broken down.
At least that's how my contract reads.

Just spoke with the cust. serv. at Waste Management and they said you must have everything bagged either in the tote or beside it. Once in a while the drive may take an item you haven't bagged, but rarely. Perhaps you could get a second tote and just make sure everything is bagged??

Since you don't like using bags, for whatever reason ( ) might I suggest you just throw everything in the back of your SUV, and when it's full take it to the dump.
