Sigh...another great holiday for kids that parents have stepped in and screwed up. Remember in elementary school the Halloween parties each class would have? Seems that now they can't call them "Halloween" parties, but rather, "Autumn Festivals", or some such. Thanks to misguided parents, out of fear of devil worship and all things witches, goblins, and ghosts, you really can't use the term Halloween anymore. These are the same parents that grew up when we did in the 60s and 70s and enjoyed trick or treating, but have decided now that this is bad for their kids. Why?

What was wrong with making carmel apples and watching, "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" (with the Dolly Madison commercials)? Watching all the "Chiller" theater channels on TV leading up to Halloween (such as WTOP Channel 9's "Sir Graves Ghastly", WDCA Channel 20's "Count Gore de Vol", or earlier, WDCA Channel 20's, "Great Zucchini", or WBFF (Baltimore) Channel 45's, "Ghost Host"? Remember Trick or Treat for UNICEF? Best I can remember, we didn't "worship the devil", we just enjoyed dressing up as scary monsters and such, and would take our (preferred) pillow cases to load up on candy on Halloween. What's the problem today, parents? You are denying your kids of a lot of innocent fun, all because of your "enlightened" view of the world since that time long ago. Your views of child rearing have not been the solution to kids' woes, in fact, why do we have so many kids on Ritalin and in Special Education now?

Lettie Marshall Dent Elementary is holding their annual HALLOWEEN Carnival (note: not Autumn festival or some other :bs:) on October 15th from 5-8 p.m. $4 for kids. Dress up, have fun, play games, get candy and kids aren't selling some cheap crap to raise money. :yay:
