Trump admits properties were overvalued in Court also thinks he was President in 2021

Trump was angry and confused today in court:

Trump was briefly more focused after a morning break but soon started to go off on tangents again. Asked about information on his 2021 financial statement, Trump said, “I was so busy in the White House. My threshold was China, Russia, and keeping our country safe.” Wallace responded, "The question was actually about this property value," while also noting that Trump was out of office in 2021.

Trump also used his time on the stand to complain that the AG's office had undervalued his Florida resort, Mar-a-Lago.

The attorney general's office had noted the Palm Beach County assessor appraised its market value to be $18 million to $27.6 million from 2011 to 2021, while Trump’s balance sheet put its value at $426 million to $612 million — a number Trump testified he thought was too low.

“The values are far bigger than what they are on the financial statements,” Trump said, adding it was "50 to 100 times" more valuable than the AG said. "I don’t know how you got that number," he added, calling it "absolutely crazy."

Although I do not believe his property is as 'inflated' as he claims, I would definitely say that tax assessments are lower than actual cost about 99% of the time.
Anyone who disagrees is welcome to sell their own home at the tax assessment value instead of the market/realtor value. Let me know when you do so I can get a great deal on a house flip! :yay:

He claimed the tennis court alone was worth $18 million.

The problem is he claimed the property was worth more when it helped him secure loans and then turned around and said it was worth less when it was time to pay taxes.

He can say whatever he likes and if he can get away with it great.

What he can't do is lie about the same property to two different parties.

Better get started prosecuting the other 4,999,999, businesses in the U.S. then.

Taxes are based off of assessed property value. The ACTUAL value of a property has many more considerations. Especially a commercial property.
Do you think that the value of any Walmart store is the same as the assessed property value?

No. No one said it was.

However Trump fought his tax assessments and tried to get them lowered while inflating the supposed value of his properties to get more loans.

That is fraud

Is it though?
Who doesn't try to get a lower tax assessment? And, who doesn't try to get the highest price value for their property/business for any reason (other than tax assessment)?
I guess literally MILLIONS of people commit "fraud" every single year.

He wasn't selling the property and trying to get the highest price.

He was lying about the value of the property to get larger loans than he could repay.

How can you not even understand the issue but be so angry about it?
