I DO NOT get why you would voluntarily LEAVE a place - and come back under another guise - presumably leaving because no one can stand you.

If I left a party and no one could stand me - I would not deign to grace them with my illustrious presence a second time. They don't deserve me.
What kind of nut comes back after leaving? If it were a person in a relationship who did that - we'd call them a loser.

I've only ever known a handful of people who genuinely believe if you don't agree with them - really, on any issue, but politics will do -

Then there's something wrong with you. You're too stupid to understand, or ignorant, or don't know all the facts, or are a racist or bigot or really any of a lot of things.

It is precisely the reaction of hard-core religious types - it's cause you're a sinful ignorant heathen. If you just knew what I knew, you'd agree with me.

The problem with that kind of thinking - aside from the narcissism and ego - is stuff is usually a LOT MORE COMPLEX than the simple version they espouse. And there's also the basic problem of - who do you believe?

I think it's always stupid to assume that someone who disagrees with you does so, because they're ignorant, bigoted, uneducated. and so forth.

I get tired of hearing that - say - if YOU think a politician is a racist or a homophobe or - whatever - that means your vote is because YOU ARE TOO.
Well screw that. If I like a football team and one of the receivers is a felon, that doesn't mean I approve of his crime. I vote for someone because I think they're going to improve things, regardless of their foibles.

I like a lot of people that are flawed - and it doesn't mean I'm on the same page with everything they believe. God, what kind of nutcase would I have to be to only befriend people who agree with me on everything.

I don't know the person nor would I care to, but I'm pretty sure that the character(s) this person has been are Truby20, Transporter, Crabcatcher79, Sapidus, and StMarysCity79 (might be missing a few). I'm pretty sure it isn't who Gurps thinks it is (Sailorgirl, NOTSMC).
