Typical NY Deli Breakfast

A buttered Kaiser roll and a coffee light and sweet. Memories of growing up in NY. Being a holiday I had some egg nog, so I used that in my coffee today.

So, what kind of traditional breakfasts from your childhood did you enjoy? Not necessarily holiday, just normal or weekend kind of stuff.

Garbage eggs. Whatever was leftover from dinner the night before, scrambled with eggs. Still a favorite to this day.

Sometimes when ends were getting hard to meet we had leftover bacon fat on toast. Not as bad as it sounds.

There were 7 kids in my family, my mom rarely made breakfast for us once we were old enough to make our own. When she did, it was buckwheat pancakes, eggs and sausage/bacon or scrapple.

Bacon, eggs over easy, homefries and toast. We do that just about every Sunday. I remember when I was a kid, we would have breakfast for dinner sometimes. Pancakes, eggs, bacon or sausage and toast or biscuits. I love me some eggs benedict, but don't fix that home too often, its a favorite on the rare occasions when we go out for breakfast. Honestly, I think I love all "breakfast" foods. Cornedbeef hash, sausage gravy, creamed chipped beef. Oh great, now I want breakfast!!!
