Uncontrolled children in restaurants

Yesterday for lunch I went to Arizona pizza for what I had hoped was a relaxing lunch. Well there was this woman that sat in the lobby holding a baby and with a boy that appeared to be around 4yrs old. Now picture this scenario; boy could not sit still and kept running around through out the restaurant, after Mom would shout very loudly for him to come back. Meanwhile this kid is making noises that sound like a cross inbetween and monkey and bird constantly. I actually witnessed him run into a server who was carrying a tray full of drinks. She almost fell and I imagine if she would have spilled a hot drink on the kid, the restaurant would have been sued. The mom acted almost as bad as the kid, rude and loud. Even after they were seated that little brat would not sit down and mom really didn't make him. All she did was yell at the kid and the servers!
My dog would have more social graces in a public place than they did. I made a comment to my server about them and she said they have really upset the staff, I really felt sorry for the server that had to wait on them. Ok
I am done venting now!

You are just old and have no patience.

:lmao:
I sincerely hope you really meant that as a joke...:eyebrow: There is no excuse for a parent letting a young kid leave the table unsupervised.

I took my children out regularly so they would know how to behave in public. I never let them run off and the few times they attempted it they learned never to try again.
Sounds like this lady hasn't "civilized" her preschooler.

Well this must have been a first outing for them! :lmao: After watching them I would believe it was the first outing for the mom also!

I also can't stand when a parent doesn't clean up after their child. I witnessed a family at a table that kept their two year old entertained by handing him stuff such as sugar and artificial sweetner packets, multiple utensils, foods of all types, etc. all of which ended up thrown about and there was a ring of filth within a three foot radius of this kid. The family up and left without a care.

When I worked at Bambino's, there were these two ladies who used to come in on AYCE pizza night with about a zillion kids. These brats used to run around, scream, pester other diners, trip the waitresses - and these women would just sit there and not do a thing. We asked them repeatedly to control their children, to no avail.

Finally Terry, the owner, went over to their table, grabbed their plates, dumped them in the trash and told these women to get the hell out. They got all indignant and started threatening him with lawuits and such, but he didn't budge. Told them to get out or he was calling the cops and having them arrested for trespassing.

The whole restaurant erupted in applause  and Terry has been my restaurant-owner hero ever since. The standard to which ALL restaurant owners are compared :yay:

If customers or their children are disruptive, the manager should toss them out. End of story.

I can't stand situations like that. The other day I was in the grocery store, and this mother kept shouting for her kids to "SHUT UP!" She was being really mean, and not handling the situation well at all. Her kids weren't even being that bad. Dayum parents.

We must have been in the same grocery store. :lmao:

If I have a choice in seating I try to stay away from disruptive children. It ruins my appetite.

Me too. :high5: People routinely compliment me on his great behavior, but I just see it as how a kid should act out in public. I know I would've gotten my little hide tanned if I'd ever acted like some of the kids I see out and about today, and I wouldn't hesitate to do it to mine in a heartbeat. Sometimes he'll whisper to me "Mommy, that boy is being really bad".
