On July 29 at 3:42 a.m., a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt was traveling southbound in the 8800 block of Derby Court in Dentsville when the driver, Amber Marie Rose, 16, of Marbury, lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. Rose was transported to Civista Medical Center where she was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. It does not appear Rose was wearing her seatbelt. Speed and alcohol are considered factors.

While its sad, at least she only killed herself! IMO, 16 is way to young to become a licensed driver.

This little girl lived 4 houses down from me. So sad.

2. Where is the parental supervision? see above. Good parents can have problems with good kids.
3. Who purchased alcohol for her? Another teenager? Older kid? Fake ID?

It's very, very sad. Anyone that has raised children through the teen years to adults knows very well the problems that are out there. You can give your children the knowledge and tools to be responsible, check up on them as much as you can, be involved in their lives.. but tragedies such as this still happen.

My Brother's Daughter

Amber Marie Rose was my brother's biological daughter. I never got to meet her b/c my brother was a minor when she was born & had little say in the adoption. Can anyone who knew her tell me more about her?

It's very, very sad. Anyone that has raised children through the teen years to adults knows very well the problems that are out there. You can give your children the knowledge and tools to be responsible, check up on them as much as you can, be involved in their lives.. but tragedies such as this still happen.

This is so true. It is by the Grace of God that I am alive today. I had good parents, a strict father and an ealry curfew, but that didn't stop me from lying about spending the night with friends and hanging out at parties at all hours of the night.

Good questions. My thoughts exactly. In a housing development, how fast could she have been going? Happened at 3:40 am on her way home to Marbury - that means she had another 40-45 minutes to go. 16 is WAY too young for driving. If I were her parents I would want to know who brought the alcohol too, but whoever they were, I'm sure they didn't force it down the young lady's throat. What a tradegy.

Nobody is going to take this event as a "lesson". They are going to keep doing what they are currently doing until their time runs out.

I mean......many, many, many people have already died needlessly. If people had taken their deaths as a lesson, the deaths would have ended a long time ago.

I see it as a lesson, it's too bad the bulk of our society feels bad for it and then forgets about it within two minutes.

This girl was my biological niece. I have never met her, but was looking forward to meeting her when she turned 18.

There is so much more tragedy & irony to this story than anyone reading the article could possibly imagine, but that is my brother's story, it is not mine to tell.

There ARE people learning some very life altering lessons from this tragedy, the very birth of this girl turned my brother's life around, possibly SAVED his life.

This story is not just another statistic (as I imagine no story truly is), it is a very real, very meaningful point in many people's lives.

Most sure there are. Not to outsiders looking in, but to those that knew her. That's the way it works.
