Oh God I lived in San Antonio for about 4 months and left! How can you stand it down there?
And yes I agree parents who get caught driving around with their kids unrestrained should lose their license and be sterilized and lose their children to boot!

I moved way out in the country and limit my San Antonio trips as much as possible. I have to drive 20 miles to the nearest grocery store. I go into SA maybe once a month and then usually for something fun like the theater, zoo, or Seaworld. I avoid the south side of town and shopping areas that are overrun with Mexicans as much as possible. It's just like DC, there are places you want no part of and avoid like the plague.

You guys are such products of your pop culture. When I was a kid, cars didn't even have seatbelts, let alone carseats for children. The vast majority of my peers are still alive.

I was standing up in the back of the car fixing a sheet that was on the seat(it was hot and we had vinyl)....my mom was driving and a guy(he was drunk) ran the light and broad sided us....she ended up with bruised up knees(hit the underside of the dash in the middle)....I ended up with 10 stitches in the back of my head(hit the passenger door window crank)
My dad always said that the way the guy hit us, if my mom and I were wearing a seat belt she would have been cut in half and I wouldn't be here right now

Yep, vrai, and so are mine, but that doesnt mean we should ignore the advances in safety we've made. I agree, we sometimes try to make the kids too safe, but not in this case. If we are going to travel around in two ton metal boxes at speed, theres no reason to do it without taking a few seconds to do it safely.
Now, you have two kids, and a three seat pickup, and cant afford another vehicle, thats one thing. Holding your precious snowflake in your lap instead of the carseat becuase they whine, not acceptable. Letting three tricycle motors rampage in the back seat, instead of buckling them up becuase they fight otherwise? Nope, no excuse.
They cant choose reposnsibly, you must do it for them.

All I can say is, I could never live with myself if I had one of my kids in the car without a seatbelt and some idiot pulled out in front of me and my kid got killed because he was launched out the windshield. Most people have gotten smarter over the years and began to realize that seatbelts save lives
Good thing not everyone thinks like you or we would still be pushing carts around with square wheels.
