Unrestrained Kids

Or just that those parents are just lazy. My son has forgotten twice to buckle up. He was screaming at me before we got out of the driveway to stop the car. I have brainwashed my kids to buckle up. :yay:

Same with my two kids. I barely got myself buckled up before they were reminding me that I had forgotten to do the same to them. My 7 year old can buckle himself but I still look back and check before putting the car in reverse. My 4 year old can buckle himself up with the help of the 7 year old but I still go and double-check to make sure it's tight and firmly in the buckle.

The one good thing about my husband wrecking my Paseo last week is that I no longer have to worry about either of my kids riding in the front seat of that car. The backseats were designed in a way that car seats would not fit properly. We went and got a 2009 Corolla and I promptly put both car seats in the back where they belong.

Won't be long till your out of the car seat stage and your life will be so much more simple! I was so glad when I could get rid of the mini van and get a real car again! All be it a large sedan it's still doesn't scream MOM MOBILE! I just don't like that. Been around to many race car drivers to want to drive a mini van. :lmao:

Oh and my 9 yr. old freaks out if he is not buckled and I start backing out of the driveway too. So I have to stop so he can chill and get buckled!

They pretty much are out. Both are in boosters now. Both my kids are so tall that by age 3, I'd have to squish them into their 5-point harness carseats since you couldn't use boosters until age 4.

IN the 1970's my dad had a big old Oldsmobile station wagon. We never wore seatbelts (I'm not even sure the car had any) and loved to sit all the way in the back by the "big back window." Dad would put it down and we'd all jump around and act foolish WHILE he was driving down the road.

My brother fell out once on the freeway. Hit his head pretty good. Dad said it was the best thing that ever happened to him because it finally knocked some sense into him. :yay:

Sorry Vrai but you are being a dumbass. Not putting your kid in a booster seat is abuse. They make device to help save a child's life should some other dumbass run into you. Why would you not put your kid in a booster seat? It's not bubble wrap trying to shelter them from society. It's trying to protect them from harm.

I think you mean neglect, not abuse.

Remember - or at least I remember because I'm over 40 - not all cars had seat belts back in the day. Some only had front seat belts. Safety harnesses were made based on studies of accidents and how to prevent them. Same with child seats, boosters, etc..... So what is correct to do now, wasn't even an option 20 plus years ago.

At 4 and 7, they may have a bit more time.

"Most kids need to use a booster until they are 4'9", according to the IIHS report. Based on CDC growth charts, an average-sized child would reach that height about age 11."

Not my kids. They've been off the charts height wise since birth.

My son is 8 and is 56" tall and weighs just over a hundred pounds. He doesn't fit into a booster sit and hasn't for a long time.
