Man, reading this thread makes me feel sorry for guys.

That is why women are supposed to read the men magazines (Maxim, Gq, etc...) and men read Cosmo... so they know what women really want.

If my man got me any of those things I wouldnt complain because remember it is the thought that counts right

$35 for a bottle of fabric softener.... a $90 throw pillow.... give me a break...:killingme

Feeling the need to exchange gifts for Valentine's Day is just silly.

Or they could ask.

Yeah, and heaven help the guy who doesn't get his girl anything.

I feel like those are better gifts for a gq guy to get his boyfriend :justsayin: a 90 dollar pillow? I would seriously question his manhood if that's what he came up with for me. Or that ugly ass chunk of plastic ring on a piece of string? I would probably think he found it in his toolbox last minute..:killingme

then again..we don't really "do" presents for valentines..a card, some flowers, maybe go to dinner..much more my style than overpriced laundry soap.

I may sound ungrateful but those presents are pretty lame. A simple card and a "Happy Valentine's Day" would do for me. I would be super pissed if my hubby wasted money on any of that stuff.

:yay: Just for the record, I don't think being practical is sounding ungrateful at all. I just think those snots who replied to article do!

Seriously, Valentine's Day is such a big marketing ploy. While it's nice to be appreciated and thought of - I think it's childish and snotty to expect something and complain when it's not up to whatever expectations the giftee may have.

Honestly I don't need a material gift. Some quality time (without children preferable) would be just fine. Unfortunately, since V-day is on a weekday, we have kid-related extracurricular activities. The weekend before also has kid related extra-curricular activities, including a birthday party for one of them.... Carving out some extra time in there somewhere would be close to a miracle, so that would be the best gift of all.

Hubby never gets me anything... we're celebrating 5 years in August.

We don't really do much for Valentine's Day either, usually cook breakfast or dinner together, or he'll get me some conversation hearts because I love them. But reading comments about the gift ideas in the article, sounds like those women wouldn't be happy with anything! Ingrates!

Thanks to this thread, I just ordered the gift for the LOMY. Chocolate covered apricots. She'll get them early, but....
Thanks for the reminder.

Does anyone ever get those teddy bears they advertise all over the place around VD? Now THAT is a dumb present.

I'm getting Larry a new refrigerator for Valentine's. I'll like it more than he will, but technically it's for him.

:buddies: Beer Fridge!! :buddies: We don't do anything big for Valentine's either. Maybe a little gag gift (pair of heart boxers for him, and a balloon for me type of thing), or go out to eat. But, we can do that any time!

I'm thinking that the women who had such negative comments on the items on the list would probably appreciate a "coupon" from their other half to actually use such products to help out from time to time! I'm lucky, Hubby does dishes, laundry, bathrooms, and mops floors! We just take turns.

Are you talking about the Vermont Bears? I got one from an ex about 10 years ago
