If someone told you they were coming over at 0700 to kill you, don't you think you'll be prepared for that? And yet we always seem to announce just exactly when we plan to attack.
Sanctions are crap. I am sure if Putin has been planning to take Ukraine - and it sure sounded like in his last speech he intends to but only because in his mind, it's never been a nation at all - he has factored all that in. So they serve no purpose as a deterrent - spring them on him NOW, and he will invade - what's the point of NOT invading if you've already received the "punishment". And punishing him afterward will be fruitless if he gets to KEEP Ukraine.
Because Biden is a lot of hot air and empty threats.
That said, Democrats sure do love their wars, don't they? Did you ever think you'd see a day when liberals are screaming for war and attacking anyone who wants to prevent it?
He's in a tough spot. Europe as a whole has no desire whatsoever to go toe to toe with Russia. KNOWING that, Putin is going to take Ukraine because NO ONE WILL STOP HIM. Poland is shoring up their defenses - if no one will help Ukraine, who will help THEM?
The United States also is not keen on putting boots on the ground, to engage in yet another war.
But the loss of Ukraine to the Russians would be a blow that would be felt worldwide for decades. If you think the economy sucks now, just wait.
They think it makes them look tough.
Really? Because whenever I see one of the Democrat politicians on TV they seem super hot to go to war.

Why would we? Are the Ukraine and Belarus strategic US assets? Does our health and welfare depend on them? Can most Americans even spell their names or find them on a map?
It's a European problem. They are not part of Nato, and not really our issue. They aren't bastions of democracy that need to be protected from evil communism.
I don't give a crap about them and I don't want to spend the next 20 years paying to rebuild those shetty countries just because defense contractor's need their next paychect now that we are drawing down from the middle east.

My $0.02... I'm not going to get all spun up over Ukraine or Belarus (which I believe is already pro-Russian). Poland and the Baltic States I feel is a completely different story.
