Walgreens is ghetto

its actually annoying to hear people call waldorf ghetto. I too am from NY and 1/2 the people complaining about waldorf being ghetto don't even know what the hell ghetto means.

I'm fully aware of this walgreens and that whole shopping area, i live 5 minutes from there. I've been living in waldorf for 6 years now and IM NOT MOVING. I love it here. They are building more houses, more apartments, more restaurants, more stores, what more could u ask for? except more ROADS for the traffic. :lmao:

If you can't handle waldorf or can't stand it, please stop cloggin our traffic on route 5 north coming from st. marys/calvert county all the way up till leonardtown road to the best buy just to go shopping. :coffee:

Lady - you do not have a clue... glad you have lived here a total of 6 years :bigwhoop: Try living here your entire life and watch our area get trashed from transient system suckers like yourself.

There was a time when "going to town" meant going into DC to do your shopping - there were no malls, no stores - nada... and going into DC or Marlow Heights was not a big deal. Slowly over the years those area went to crap and that sludge has migrated into Waldorf "thanks" to our abundance of nice homes and restaurants. It did not take long for Waldorf to turn into an 'effed up area. St. Charles was the first, and now the majority of Waldorf is getting just as bad - thanks Queenie for doing you part.

Maybe, just maybe you cannot see the problem because you are part of it - if you already stink like crap you cannot smell the rest of it around you.

Why did you move from your beloved New York?

Since we moved to somd, I've read thread after thread bashing Waldorf. I go to there often to shop and I've even been brave enough :)sarcasm:) to go there at night to eat. I'll admit, I do see more gangster thugs walking around there than I do here in Calvert but it's not as though I've ever feared for my life in Waldorf.

I grew up in NY and maybe that's why I don't think Waldorf's that bad. Can you clarify for me, where St Charles, Lancaster & Bannister are? Hubby just changed jobs and started working in Waldorf - we're happy that he's now working in an area that doesn't have bullet holes in the windows but maybe we were wrong about that? Do most of the area businesses have bullet proof glass there also? :lmao:[/QUOTE]

No, not yet. Don't :lmao: about that because but it probably won't be long. It's actually quite sad. I used to work in SW but would have to go through SE DC and if you go into any of the fast food marts/service stations, Cash only and they all have bullet proof glass windows.

St. Charles, Lancaster and Bannister are located to the left, heading North on Rt 5 at Mattawoman Beantown Road. Turn left there on St. Charles Parkway.

In comparison to what Waldorf was in the early 80's,(considered country) it's gone straight downhill. Waldorf has more now, more shopping, more restaurants, more houses, more people but there is a price to pay for those things (considering who are neighbors are). With all of it comes more drugs, more crime, etc. etc. Unfortunate but true.

Many people who lived in Waldorf are leaving, putting their houses up for sale and getting out. Not sure why but only to assume it's the area and the people moving into the area.

Thanks, I think I have an idea where NOT to get lost now. As much as we all love the stores and restaurants, it is a shame what comes with that development.

And I know what you mean about SE DC - now that's the ghetto! I lived in NW for 2 years and when I first moved there, took a wrong turn driving home from the monuments. I knew I was in a bad area when a cop asked me what the heck I was doing there and if I was lost. He then escorted me out of the area, back to safety. :lmao:

Watch the VanGo stops and see what gets off of there - oh, and thank the Metro bus line as well... that buses trash in quicker. :yay:

 If you live in Huntingtown, why in God's creation are you shopping in Waldorf? Annapolis is closer and MUCH better don't you think?

I was in Walgreens in Waldorf Sunday night to return some items. I went up the cash register in cosmetics where cynthia the asst/mgr was working. She gave me no greeting, just put her hand out for the receipt. I handed it to her. She did the return and put a receipt down for me to fill out. She couldn't find a pen, so she dug one out of her nasty ass bra. I used it, but did throw up in my mouth. She then turned and walked away. She was mumbling something, but she wasn't directing it at me, and she had left the paper I has just filled out on the counter, so I thought she had to do something else before she was done. She walked up to the front cash register and stood there. I waited. Then she went outside and brought in a cart. Then she finally came over to me and said "thats all I needed, I said that when I walked away". I said "I didn't hear you because you had your back to me". She said nothing. She never said a thank you or anything. I left. What a ghetto biatch. Now let me pull the race card,,,,she was black, I am white, so I think thats why she was so nasty to me. I did call and report home girl to the Walgreens management, and am waiting for the store manager (Shannon) to call me back. I cannot believe they could have such an unprofessional low class woman like that as an asst/mgr. That really makes the store look like #$%%!!! I have gone to the edgewater Walgreens, and it is so nice, people are very helpful and friendly. Now I know why I left Waldorf!!

You know, I know EXACTLY the stank a*& hooch you are talking about. Shes always rude, and I have actually been wondering at this point if she is just stupid. Seriously. She has no personality and she just kinda looks blank all the time. Shes pissed me off on SEVERAL occasions. Shes the only bad experience I have had in there. The manager is MORE than helpful, he has caught me on the way in before and taken me down each aisle to get what I needed. I think maybe they need to check that chick on the register and get rid of her, or at least put her in the stock room.

Why did you move from your beloved New York?

In NY i was use to a lot of drug activity and crime. That is why I moved. I have yet to experiance any of that in my neighborhood and I live right off of Post office road around the corner from this Walgreens. I own my own home, and run my own business from there, I have great neighbors and have yet to experiance ANYTHING close to what I felt in NY.

With time comes change. Nothing is going to stay the same. Businesses are booming here, so of course it's going to attract people who are trying to get away from what I experianced, whether they are from NY, DC, or Va. Why build more houses in such a ghetto crime riddened area? Who are buying these houses? Why are their waiting lists just to get an apartment in Waldorf?

I'll avoid all your other snide remarks because I'm so above that now.:bigwhoop:

I've got no beef with Waldorf, I've just heard that it's a scary evil place where people will rob ya just because they can, shoot you because you've got a flat tire, and take your children for BBQing.

And we're talking real baby-back ribs.

RIBS! Dripping with sauce! Falling off the bone!

4 points to anyone who gets the reference.

I understand why you feel the way you do about the area going downhill so drastically since you've lived there. I lived on Long Island for 30 years and the same thing has happened there - you have the ghetto rats of the city, moving out to the island and ruining what was once a safe, family oriented place to live. It's now way overdeveloped, overpriced and crime has increased practically overnight there. God forbid they leave any open land around there - it's a developer's paradise. :burning:

Oh I know about bullet proof glass in general - I was wondering if Waldorf businesses had it there yet. I read your other posts on here and I know what you mean about the Marlow Heights area too - that's where hubby was working until he recently went to work in Waldorf. I have seen what gets off the busses around there and trust me....you won't ever find me on those busses!

As for shopping, it actually takes me less time to get to Waldorf than it does to get to Annapolis. Rte 2 is a one lane road most of the way up there and I always get stuck behind the idiots that feel the need to drive under the speed limit, no matter what time of day or night I go. I don't really go to the mall in Waldorf (we went there once on a Friday night and decided we really didn't fit in there). For mall shopping or movies, we'll go to Annapolis. But for Home Depot, Lowes, Sam's Club, Best Buy, etc....Waldorf is quicker for us.

You left new york because of the crime. The people here are leaving waldorf for the very same reason.

The only difference is in the perception of acceptable crime levels. You, being from new york, are willing to accept a higher level of crime as "normal" while those leaving waldorf have a far lower tolerance for ignorance and crime.

Waldorf is lower in crime than new york, dc, baltimore, etc... But it's a hell of a lot higher than it was and that's a DIRECT reflection of the people who live there now.

Jumped from the frying pan into the start of a fire... yes, the slums of NY are nowhere close to Waldorf - BUT it is getting worse as the years progress.

Who are buying these homes? For the most part it is people from PG county escaping the push from DC... unfortunately, their children are coming into an area and their minds are already 'effed up wanting to live like a thug - but they are nowhere close to it... just a bunch of wanna be's. These punks run around the streets and cause problems... their ghetto buddies still in the 'hood' come down and visit and play gansta'. The cops are getting pissed and are busting heads. I invite you to listen to a scanner on Friday and Saturday night, you would be amased.

Glad you are in a nice area, there are some small pockets in St. Charles (in the older area where you are) that have nice people. For the most part - it is trashed...

My remarks are not snide - they are my personal feelings of how I really feel... if you come in here with one hand on your hip and the other with one finger in the air waving around saying "it 'aint ghetto" well you are going to hear it the way people really feel. :coffee:

:gossip: it's experienced not experianced...

That's exactly it, you hit it head on. I didn't live in a high crime area of NY like Qurious may have but those crappy areas weren't far enough away from me, imo. Same as when I lived in DC - lived in a great neighborhood but the crap areas weren't that far away. You're right - that could be why to me, Waldorf doesn't seem SO bad. Because I've seen so much worse.

But to those who lived there prior to all of this development, it seems as though the whole area has gone to crap. I completely relate because the same thing's happened to Long Island. My parents can't wait to move. My brother and I already have, as have most of my other relatives. It's sad. I wish the ghetto rats would stay put.
