Walking your cat on a leash..

My sphynx walks on a leash. He does really well but only when it is warm out!

Ahhhh - that's awesome.

Ours is too small to even attempt to train right now. Our vet says she’s a Maine Coon mix and from what I’ve been reading, they are fairly easy to leash train since they are so dog-like.

So far... so good!!! She really enjoys going outside but whenever I bring her back in, she runs around the house like crazy for 15 minutes. I have been using the dog's harness but ordered an XS walking jacket online - made for a cat. Since she is growing fast, I have a feeling I'll be ordering another in a few weeks. She's a Maine Coon so she is totally enjoying the snow.

Saw a lady at a campground walking her cat, but she was on a harness type lead. Didn't get fazed by any dogs that were out.

I just LOVE Maine Coons - had one, he died suddenly (appeared totally healthy prior). I miss him dearly! I went to Tri-County to find another Maine Coon, but ended up with the worst looking female they had (felt sorry for her), and she turned out to be a mouse-killing loveable lap kitty ... and she blossomed into a beautiful calico girl when her fur grew back in (she was bald due to flea infestation).

If I come across another Maine Coon it will probably become a resident. Glad your kitty has so much fun outside.

My son stumbled upon her at the shelter. She had just been put up for adoption maybe 10 minutes before... I didn't even know what a Maine Coon was until now. She is truly different and high-energy.... kinda like the JRT of the cat kingdom.

Anyway, here is an article on walking your cat - Dec. 2011 in the New York Times.
