Washing stuffed animals

My mom had kept one of the teddy bears I had as a little girl and gave it to me recently to hand down to my baby boy.

I want to wash it, but I'm afraid I'll ruin it. It's in good shape, it just needs a cleaning. Would you chance it?

If I can't wash it in the washing machine, is dry cleaning an option? Is that something a dry cleaner does?

Take it to the cleaners....preferably one that you have used before and you trust them

Tie it in a pillow case and toss it in the washer, I do that with my killer rabbit, works fine.

I'm sure that your killer rabbit is not as old as her bear

I have a stuffed Garfield that is an orginial....It got dirty on the move from Hollywood to Leonardtown last year and I took it to the cleaners in Leonartown to have him cleaned

I doubt if the bear has spent two years on the back of a bike.

when you have a stuffed toy for longer than a certain amount of time the string that holds it together gets fragile....if you put it in the washer and add detergent it might make it that much more fragile and it will fall apart

:yeahthat: Maybe spot/surface cleaning would work and then just put it into the dryer for a bit to get rid of the dust that may be inside the bear.

I would hand wash it with some oxyclean.... if the animal has eyes....use a little bit of pledge with a Q-tip so you can get rid of that build-up. I am sure you can google it too...see what other people use.
