Racial slur? GTFOOH! Are you such a pussy that the name "Redskins" offends you so much? JHFC. You are such a pussy. Better order a dozen or so of those ice-pickers for all those crabs you seem to have. The point of which should pierce them spot on!

It doesn’t offend me at all.

It offends the people who we stole this land from, tried to starve to death and eradicate and now force to live on reservations.
Those people are Americans and there is no reason to further antagonize them when we could simply change the name.

Well? First off, it wasn't just as simple as "we" stealing land. In the late 1400's and early 1500's, there were no courthouses where land records and ownership papers were filed. Also finding that the Spanish were among the first Europeans to explore the New World and the first to settle in what is now the United States. Of course there were the French as well. By 1650, however, England had established a dominant presence on the Atlantic coast. With the conquest of Mexico in 1522, the Spanish further solidified their position in the Western Hemisphere. The Spanish also had control of what is now Florida. In 1539, De Soto's expedition landed in Florida and ranged through the southeastern United States as far as the Mississippi River in search of riches. The St. Lawrence River laid the foundations for the French claims to North America, which were to last until 1763. Even the Canadians were in involved. Now understand this. Each and every Nation at the time was fighting each other for the resources and land that is now the USA. In the beginning, simple trades were made with the local inhabitants for the purchase of land. "We" didn't steal anything. We, The United States, purchased land controlled by others. Such as with the Louisiana Purchase which was the acquisition of the territory of Louisiana by the United States from France in 1803 acquiring a total of 828,000 sq mi.. The Oregon Territory, which had a treaty with Great Britain, ended in 1846.
Anyway. All lands west of the Mississippi, were legally purchased or otherwise properly acquired. From either the French, the Spaniards, or the Mexicans, or ceded to us from Great Britain. So instead of painting with such a broad brush using the word "we" in a attempt to elicit some form of guilt, perhaps you could narrow it down a bit?

Also the people who were here before any explorer made it here, should really be known as North Americans, (after the fact) or simply aborigines, or nomads, before the fact, since they never stayed in one area for too long and moved about quite often in search of food and shelter.

I’m sure you have some long winded excuse for slavery too.

I don't know about you, but I wasn't around when those people stole this land from the natives (just so you don't get offended, that word is not used to describe what kind of people they were, it's used to explain who was here first). I would bet to say that no one single Native-American was here when this land was stolen from the natives hundreds of years ago. I was born here against my will, long after this country was established. Hence, IT'S NOT MY FAULT, NOR WILL I TAKE FAULT FOR IT! There not one single country in this world today that wasn't taken from previous natives of those lands. With the exception of, perhaps, Israel and the Palestinians, no 'natives' to any land run around screaming about how their land was stolen from them.

We can't go back and change any of this; nor should we try. Great countries are born out of terrible times and events. This is a great country. I seriously doubt Native-Americans have any desire for every person not native leave and give it all back to them. I'm willing to bet they love the technology, freedom, form of government, etc... this country has offered all of us. Native-Americans drive cars, own wonderful homes, have running water and plumbing, electricity, cell phones, etc... Would this country have any of this had the "discovery" and settlement never happened?

All that aside, I'm willing to bet if Amerigo Vespucci, Christopher Columbus, and other explorers hadn't found this land, it would have happened eventually. I have no expectations that people like you will ever get over the fact that history is written, and you will do all you can to rewrite it. But, none of your desires and actions will change any of it. It still happened. We are here. And I intend to enjoy life under the best freedom this world knows, while you remain bitter, unhappy, and hateful towards people like me.

I didn’t say any of that was your fault. I said because of that perhaps we should be mindful of offending people who have been historically mistreated and put ourselves in their shoes and make a simple change to less the hurt they feel when they hear that name thrown around.

Getting offended is on you. I have a huge reverence for our history, but not in a way where I regret things I can't change; and especially about things I had nothing to do with. I don't go out of my way to offend people; aside from humor. We have a special kind of offended class of people in this country today. They're offended by the American Flag, George Washington, Lincoln (the one white man we can and should credit for ending slavery), Grant (I mean the man led a war against those who wanted to keep slavery), Ganghi... name your historical figure, and the offended class is offended.

On a systemic level, the mistreatment of Native and African Americans happened long before I was even born. So, who was mistreated that I have to be mindful of any more than anyone else? Is their mistreatment on individual levels - like George Floyd? Sure. I am mindful of everyone I come in contact with. I don't give a damn what color or ethnic origin they are. You deserve respect until you no longer deserve it. And that disrespect will be earned. It won't be random or selective by any factors you have no control over.

The only thing we really need to be mindful of is that ugly history we had, so we learn from it and don't repeat it again. And this country has come a very long way in doing that, and at a very high price to white people. But, the offended class is trying to erase that. For some reason they'd rather be offended than actually objectively learn from it. And rather than have a discussion about what offends them, they intend to push it on the majority - who aren't offended by any of this - through violence. These people are only showing how hateful, uncivilized, and undisciplined they are.

The third reich lasted longer than the confederacy but you don't see a lot of statues to Hitler and Germans complaining that they can fly Nazi flags.

Nazism is still taught in schools and everyone is aware of it.

There is no danger it will be forgotten about despite the fact that most Germans living today have no connection to it or responsibility for it.

They have decided that the cruelty towards the Jews was enough to not idolize or glorify that part of history in any way.

Arguably more people were killed during the slave trade and there is no reason to treat it any differently.

If you didnt stand on the right side of history during slavery what is to say you would have done so during the holocaust?

Owning slaves is enough to not have your memory glorified with statues. Yes George Washington was pivotal in the birth of our nation and should be remembered as such. But we also need to remember he owned slaves You cant just dismiss that as a product of his time as there were many fighting against slavery then. Just as there were Germans trying to save Jews.

For too long this country has celebrated the achievements of historical figures without putting their lives into context beyond the gaze of whites.

There is a good show on Netflix right now called Taste the Nation that looks at immigration through food in the US.

The episode on the border and the Gullah Geeche ( descendants of slaves who have preserved parts of their african culture) people of Georgia might be of interest to you if you are interested in history.
