Since I recently had my fuel pump die in my high performance car at +180,000 miles, I'll chime in. Out of those 180,000, it's a safe bet that well over 160,000 of those miles were fueled by Sheetz and WaWa, with the odd fillup at Quik Mart, some Shell or Chevron. Never less than 92, mostly 93 octane. I'll post up pictures of the pump assembly later this weekend. Looks pretty damn good. I almost think that additives are like the transistors in the first gen of transistor radios, where makers added them because consumers "knew" that more transistors made it better, but in realityonce you had two or three, you didnt need any more, so they just soldered them into places on the PCB that connected to nothing. My high school electronics teacher showed us examples of seven transistor models

The only additives that [can] affect how your car drives in the short(er) term are those that affect the octane rating. It would be a total violation of the law if WaWa's 89 octane fuel differed from Sunoco's in that respect.

My comments have all been comparing red apples to red apples... 89 to 89, 93 to 93.. ect... In that respect WaWa 89 is still different than Sunoco 89...The octane rating is monitored by the state, The other additives and detergents are not and those are proprietary to each band.

Agreed, anyone who thinks the octane ratings are bunk is welcome to buy a car that needs it and put in the wrong stuff. If it's modern, you're lucky, it will just pulll your power, you might not even notice unless you hammer the pedal hard. If it's old, it will knock like a symphony of hammers.

I do. The only time I buy Shell gas nowadays is when I am EMPTY and there is nowhere else around. Seriously. In the 12.5 years we've lived here, I've bought Shell gas twice. Once in L'town, put 11.75 gallons in a 12 gallon tank and once at the one on 235 by Sotterly (had to tow the truck to the station because it ran out in front of Dean Lumber.

I run almost nothing but WaWa/Sheetz/BJs/Pilot/Flyng J gas in my vehicles. Couple hundred thousand (over 600K) miles in the last 12 years and never a problem.

Yet, I get more miles out of my Shell fillups than I do at Sheetz or WaWa. Actually, I will not go to Sheetz for gas. My last van ran like crap each time I filled up there. Now Flying J, that's a different story. I filled up with that on my way home from NC a week and a half ago and I got 50+ more miles out of it than I would at Shell. I wish we had one here!

A "branded" gas station doesn't necessarily have that brand gas in the tanks either I found out. My friends dad drove a gas truck, the same truck made dropoffs at Go Mart, Dairy Mart, as well as the Exxon and Chevron in town.

SRT has told us that they do a base tune for 91, being as in CA, that's the highest octane you can get legally. So that's the recommended minimum octane. They also hinted that a couple of extra points wouldn't hurt any as timing will adjust a little up until it detects predetonation, then dial back a bit. My Neon had a Mopar kit with a High Octane Mode than required +100 octane, would play with the boost and timing for ridiculous gains, like 50 or so whp. But if you didnt have the octane, it would kick you right out.

A typical gas tankers can have as many as 6 compartments inside. That means they can carry multiple products without cross contamination.
The go mart and dairy mart could have Exxon or chevron gas because they buy leftovers just like WaWa.

So, what you are saying is we never know what we are getting at certain gas stations. I have to say I have never noticed any deviation in mileage or car performance in all my years getting gas here, there, and everywhere. I have a 2003 Toyota 8 cylinder 4runner. It has been the best car ever that I have owned. My mechanic says the engine will outlast the body. I like the 8 cylinder when I have to floor it. It takes off! The worst is the left turn at Broomes Island onto Rt. 4, and the merge if traffic is coming. I leave them in the dust!

Yes, that's exactly correct. And as far as your vehicle, that's great keep doing what you are happy with.

We've had several double blind taste tests and I've seen several people pick the 10oz buds 10/10 times, it's enough to convince me.

I used to get gas at Sheetz, found I got better gas mileage than WaWa. But once the local Sheetz raised the price for "non-members" and my debit card no longer worked there, I started going to WaWa. The difference in gas mileage vs the increased cost at Sheetz didn't wash, so WaWa is fine.

You don't have to be a member to use Sheetz but if you have a "Mysheetz" card you can get a discount on the price per gallon.
