Now I'm confused. When I say I hug to the right, I mean my right, so I guess that would be the huggee's left shoulder.

Sorry I missed this poll. But SC is correct when I hug someone their head goes to my right shoulder and mine to their right.

In my parent's church - the one I used to belong to - they all hug TO THE SIDE. It's weird to look at. It's like they are trying to completely avoid all frontal body contact. So they go up to a person and while facing the same direction, they hug sideways. My folks still try to do this to me when I see them.
