No. And it's not because they don't deserve it, it's because....what's the point? People like that live in their own little world and they wouldn't be shocked or offended if you told them they were a bunch of freaks who're going to burn in hell. They'd just think that you were a tool of Satan and pay you no mind.

I'm curious why counties/cities/whatever don't just ban the Phelps crew from their area. If they want to spew, tell them to send a letter - nobody's preventing their free speech, just where they do it.

The other thing mayors and councils could do is send the cops after them for creating a public disturbance. I mean, if you can get rousted for having your radio too loud, why couldn't you get rousted for protesting a funeral?

So the only thing I can think of is that officials in these communities WANT the Phelps' there. Because there are ways to make them unwelcome enough that they'll stay away.

Or they could provide a "Free Speech Zone" for them.

There was an episode of Arrested Development - one of the best shows EVER - and during this episode, one of the characters was protesting the war. So all these protesters show up at this military base carrying picket signs and ready to make a statement, when a military PR guy comes up and directs them to a "Free Speech Zone" which is provided for their own safety.

As it turns out the Free Speech Zone was a 10 x 15 x 8 cage that was located a few miles away from the base. :lmao: The PR guy said something like, "Enjoy your right to free speech" as he drove off.

They should provide a Free Speech Zone to these WBC ####-faces.

For their own protection, of course.

Hey! Thats an idea. Lets find out when one of theirs dies and go heckle them.
When O'Reilly had that woman from this group on his show I wrote in and suggested this very thing. I was quite "pithy" with my comment but he chose not to air it.

I think there is a line we civilized people don't cross when it comes to this kind of thing and that is to not stoop to their level. What a hard thing to do. God will deal with these people.

:yeahthat: It has never been about religion since they started. Its been about lawsuits. They want a reaction, violence, and repression of their freedom of speech, so they can sue. Thats why it was started by some SOB lawyer family. Don't confuse them with a real church. Its one big family.

...they could make plenty of money simply as lawyers doing lawyerly things while NOT subjecting themselves to endless situations where, sooner or later, someone will react to them very, very violently. Fanatics are always in it for the belief, the faith. They're true believers.
