What a fustercluck on the bridge this afternoon

I hope to be getting a job in St Mary's (interview is tomorrow) and I live in Calvert Co. Biggest concern is having to go over that bridge every day. Seems to be accidents and stand stills frequently. Husband has the option to work from home but I won't.

I've been crossing that bridge twice a day, 5 days a week, since August, taking granddaughter to and from school. Mornings are with a ton of traffic, afternoons are easier at 215. I've only been stuck one afternoon on the bridge, was late getting to her, no problems in the mornings.

If you could go early in the morning, and leave early, you'd have no problem.

Business hours are 0830-1630. Not sure if I'd have to come in earlier and/or stay later. Will ask tomorrow.

The stand stills are because of the stupid light going into the new development. It's just the new normal, plan an extra 20 minutes on your way in. Evenings are the worst, two accidents on the bridge yesterday and the traffic never recovered, took me 53 minutes to get across the bridge from base.....

all of that being said, I'd much rather deal with that and live in Calvert than not.

Yes, my husband complains about that light all the time. I currently have a commute from Lusby to Alexandria so I am really hoping to get the St Mary's job and finally have a shorter commute. Plus not having to go to bed at 8pm and get up at 2:15am will be wonderful!!

Yes. The light at Myrtle Point does hose things up. My neighbors and I pay the same big property taxes as those people. I'd bitch about my hood, but that would make it even worse. So I bite my tongue.

I don't understand how they were allowed to build this big honking development with only one way in and out......throw a tree across the road and those people are stuck.

That's simple. Money. A huge tract of land untouched, mostly. Now there are even more homes going in. I see the destruction of that land every day. It makes me sad, but I have no say.

I am sure the homes will be beautiful and plenty of takers. What can you do?

My real issue is with drainage and runoff from that development. Critical area and all that. It took me almost a year to get permits to repair my seawall. I know critical area is so many feet from the water, but with maybe hundreds of homes, roads and whatever amenities that development will have, how is that being mitigated? This is MY RIVER. Breaks my heart. AND, my property taxes will go up.
