what a sad somd classified

I AM an enigma
you think your are doing good and the person receiving the charity is not even smart enough to not shove it in your face before you are even out of sight.

Gophette and I were leaving Foodlion in Leonardtown one day and were approached by a young woman. She said she was out of money and needed formula and food for her child. She looked pitiful ( I guess crystal meth does that to you). Anyhow...we couldn't resist her plea and gave her the money and continued on to our car. When we got to the car we looked back to see that she was not going into Foodlion but was entering the door to the liquor store. Maybe she was trying to boost her income by investing the money I gave her into a winning lottery ticket.

I HATE being so cynical and I hate feeling guilty not helping those who truly need it. It almost seems like people need credible references that they are truly in need before we feel free to give them a hand. That sucks whether it's the Christmas season or not.

Something similar happened to me last week. I was going into the CVS in Lex. Park and this really drunk lady approaches me and says she needs money to get her baby's prescription. I told her that I was picking up medicine also so she could just come in the store with me and I would buy her baby's medicine when I paid for mine. She told me she would rather have the cash. I told her I didn't have any cash but would pay for her meds on my credit card. She called me a stupid white bit**, told me to go F myself and walked off toward PaPa Johns. Oh well....

wow this is sad. I wonder if it is too late to help out. Did any of you guys see this in the classifieds?

When you click to reply to the ad it comes up with an email address of "yankeelady2007" so that wasn't really informative. They still have a computer at any rate or they wouldn't have any way to get responses from anyone. It really is hard to know if someone is genuine or not. Probably the reason they are planning to move instead of just pay up with this landlord is because they are probably more than one month behind and they would need more money to catch up than to move. That makes me a little leery because I know a couple who does that - goes from place to place and can't seem to hang on to a job so they keep getting kicked out of everywhere. I don't know about this one. Hard to tell.

ORGASM DONOR
its unfortunate what society has become. To question situations like this. fifty years ago, people kept their doors unlocked at night and let their kids play till the street lights came on. Now people are skeptical to help a neighbor or someone who is in need, thinking it might be a scam or ploy for money. The circumstances are what we make it. Maybe come 2008, voters will select a president who is capable of bringing back social peace in this country. How can we help others if we don't help ourselves?

Yeah I do have one or two smart brain cells. :yay:

I am confused!
These people getting evicted is the president's fault?

No.

Us being cold-hearted is his fault. (As is apparently the general slipping of society's morals in the past 50 years... which can miraculously be corrected within the span of 4 years. We just need more laws to tell us how to act proper.)

Evidently you didnt read my initial posts... I'm just sick and tired of being sick and tired.
Read every post here, and if you could do that and still feel like donating to these people then I wish you - and your money - the best of luck.

Yeah... Yesterday I was just like you.

Today I dunno.

I'm naturally skeptical; people fall under the same scrutiny every other part of the world does.

If you want to donate, there are so many certified organizations to funnel your money or toys through, trusting people on the Net is just... shady. If I were to help them, I would follow the suggestion others have made throughout this thread: offer to go shopping with the kids and parents. The experience would be more rewarding, and, if they act hesitantly, you can cut the ties before you've lost anything more than your time.

If you give them cash it is spent on drugs and alcohol. Even in my fragile state I know that.
