what a sad somd classified

Family or church can help. To come on here and ask for gifts I wouldn't even buy my children because they can't even pay their bills is grotesque. I don't see that as being cynical. I see a new generation being brought up to believe they can have anything they ask for.

:yeahthat: What kid really NEEDS a PS2 or PS3, guitar, etc. What most of them are asking for are expensive items that no kid NEEDS, but what they WANT. I'm all for wanting to put a big smile on a kid's face, but my husband's most fondest memories are those when his family couldn't afford much, and he enjoyed getting cereal that he wasn't allowed the rest of the year.

I got taken by a woman who approached me at the post office in Prince Frederick, said she needed money for gas for her car. I asked if she needed a ride to get gas, she said no and that her brother was coming to pick her up to go get gas. I had a $10.00, gave it to her and went on my way...Later I saw her with a group of people outside of 7-11...
Was I taken or not?

Maybe there was a need for gas, but I think not. Who would think to run into panhandlers at the post office?
I too like to help, but it was my choice and I thought it was the right thing to do.
I will be more careful next time....

A guy on the Metro who seems to be a regular and goes from car to car stopped me once on my home and asked for money. I had half of my lunch left over which was a tuna sandwich. I told him no, but he could have my sandwich. He asked what kind and then said no thanks. :ohwell:

Did he say "no thanks" in a nice way or in a snooty way?

I realize they are people out there trying to scam others but not everyone is.

If someone needs help, it is hard enough to ask but then to be made fun of?
If you don't want to help then don't. But why must every thread in here be attacked?

Not everyone is as cynical as you are. It is not a bad thing to want to help someone when they need it. Sometimes people fall and need a helping hand.

Anybody that truely knows me knows I give every bit that I can when someone is in need.

But they also know how cynical I really am also.

Not poking fun just call it like we see it:pete:

Maybe, but sometimes the church can only do so much. I just would hate to think that because of their effup the kids will not have a christmas. maybe as I get older I am getting softer.

It is just a shame that there are bad people out there and because of their actions is stopping people who really need help from getting it.

Something similar happened to me last week. I was going into the CVS in Lex. Park and this really drunk lady approaches me and says she needs money to get her baby's prescription. I told her that I was picking up medicine also so she could just come in the store with me and I would buy her baby's medicine when I paid for mine. She told me she would rather have the cash. I told her I didn't have any cash but would pay for her meds on my credit card. She called me a stupid white bit**, told me to go F myself and walked off toward PaPa Johns. Oh well....
that is hilarious!!!:killingme

Actually, I think the kids being disappointed on Christmas would be a good thing. Maybe they'll grow up and work hard to ensure their kids never have a disappointing Christmas like they did.. OR maybe the PARENTS will work harder next year to ensure it doesn't happen again..

The world was a much better place when the poor were happy being poor. Disappointing birthdays and Christmas' were unheard of, because we didn't know any better, they were just GREAT days.. with or without.

My best Birthday ever I got a bicycle, the first bike that wasn't a hand me down from my older brother or cousins (or all the above), just a silly single speed sting-ray.. with the banana seat and sissy bar, MAN I loved that bike.. I don't even remember what I got for the rest of my birthdays..

Christmas, was all about socks and underwear... One year I got a pogostick and a basketball.. another a unicycle. I was never disappointed because I didn't know better. I thought I had GREAT birthdays and christmas'. Nobody was telling what I HAD to have this year.. or what the best toy was that EVERYone else was getting.

well that is your opinion I suppose and I do see some of your point but like I said many good people have fallen once or twice in their lives and I am not going to let the few bad ones stop me from reaching out to help if I can. I do not think I am above helping someone.

She was not asking for big priced items, just some help. Again, help or dont help that is up to you but happy holidays just the same.

to my red karma people

It is sad you think you have to resort to snide little comments, but that really shows the true inner you.

I am not sure what "..." means but since it was red I am taking it as bad.
I am not on a soap box, to be honest I would not care if that is what you think. I would never hold myself better than others, and I would not turn my back on someone that needs help.

If you can, good on you. Is that wrong? Who am I to say? But it is not right to sit in here and judge people without knowing the whole story. If you think that makes you look good, then nothing I will say will get past your ego or cold black hearts.
