What are the rules around burying pets in public?

I could...I'm still torn. That is what hubby wants to do (he's afraid of getting caught). It is just that he loved the beach and there is this area of woods, which is rather high up near the water. I *think* I could dig deep enough that I wouldn't hit the water table... but if I do this, I know I'll be digging solo b/c hubby won't help. Home = Hubby + Shovel. Hmmph.

Thanks for everyones kind words. This is truly the hardest responsibility as a pet owner.

Sorry for your impending loss. We had to make this hard decision in May. We cremated ours. I couldnt bear the thought of maybe moving one day and leaving her remains behind.

Thanks again for all your kind words. We are setting the date for Monday night. Our vet that usually doesn't make house calls will come to the house so that the Colby's last experience isn't 'the vet'. Looks like we will go with the back yard. I just want to spend the weekend celebrating his life rather than :bawl:. Not sure how that will work out.

:huggy: Colby sounds like a lucky dog to have such a loving family.

I seriously don't think I see myself calling to ask permission, but it may take some time to dig the hole. It is in a remote area and I don't think I should have a problem but who knows. What would happen if I got caught?

Isn't that what the little crosses on the side of the road are for?
