What businesses are missing in Southern Maryland

In Southern Calvert County we need an auto parts store. It sucks to have to go across the bridge or up to Prince Frederick when you need parts.

an old school auto parts store ........ where the old man behind the counter has been there 25 yrs, knows what you brought in, when you set it on the counter, and a huge freaking warehouse out back ...... not something that has to be ordered

used to be Atlantic Auto Parts, Partco [run by yates in the 1990's] ... and a couple others that are now gone .....

in 1982 my ex-FIL was able to walk into Atlantic and buy a water pump for a 1952 Ford Flat Head V8 .....

now that is a parts place

nuts and bolts bins, bulk fuel and vacuum line

I went back and read the thread and the vast majority of the suggestions were not for new businesses, ones that were not here, but for specific chains.
Shooting Range
Ice Rink and
"Gentlemens' Club"
I think were the only suggestions where there is no existing business.

Spaghetti Factory, Fuddruckers, Captain D's.
Fuddruckers coming to Brandywine Crossings in 2013:

Commercial Happenings in Southern Maryland: Fuddruckers Coming to Brandywine
Fuddruckers has signed on as the next tenant for Brandywine Crossing Shopping Center. They will be located in phase 2 which is currently under construction. We expect a late 2013 opening time but will keep you posted as usual as things progress. Other tenants include Hershey's Ice Cream, Philly Flash, Wing Heaven, Mc Donald's, Cheddar's Great Escape Theater, Car Max, and more to come.

Great, we needed a few more cars to pass through 301 at that exact spot!

They're building a new shopping center...what did you expect? For it to stay empty?

As for the traffic, I think they need to get the two signals at the center better synchronized with each other and synchronized with the light at Cedarville Rd.

How this thread is still alive baffles me. I wonder if any of the forementioned ideas opened since April?

A woodworking store like a Woodcraft or Rockler
A hobbyshop with an indoor and outdoor RC car track
A music stor that caters to school band and home musicians with a small recording studio available
A real electronics store (baffling considering the number of engineers here) that sells components
I would think there would be some more furnature stores than what there is
A kitchen store like the kitchen collection or LeGourmet Chef
A bagel place (I miss chesapeake bagel)

A candy store. Handmade chocolates, freshly roasted nuts, fudge and some novelties. There was a giant one in my hometown where I worked as a teen, and now they've built a life sized chocolate moose at the store, right off of the turnpike!
A cheese shop!
Women's quality consignment boutique, with high end designers. There are a couple of great ones in Alexandria.

My husband wants a gun range, too. Maybe we can pool our resources and open one. How about buying that land on 5 where that condemned house is?

Isnt there a chocolate shop on Fenwick in Leonardtown?

I agree with the consignment shop idea

You either love the food or wasn't very hungry. Or did you fall asleep, no one in their right mind would wait an hour at Lindas.

Went there with some friends, didnt drive was a bit captive.

Well, they sell chocolates that are made in Baltimore, from what she said. However, I tried them, and IMO the weirdo combinations are more suited to...I don't know who... than your average Joe.
Buttercrunch toffee
sea salt caramels
turtles
creams
nougats
Well, you get the idea. Molds with different themes as a novel gift. I found some milk chocolate musical notes for our music teacher, covered in multi-colored non-pariels seeds. So pretty, and different.

My friend was telling me there is a chocolate shop in St Leonard now...a lot like what Libby has been trying to start.

Really? Do you have a name? I'll make a point to go there tomorrow since I have to bring my son to Pr. Frederick.

Oh, and as for me "trying to start" a chocolate shop. That's...not going to happen. The county requires...way too much for me to deal with.

Sigh!
