What do you think? Should this be allowed?

Should children under the age of 18 be allowed in the gym?

Because she's an adult (supposedly). Now, if she approached the mother, and the mother told her to eff off and the kids were acting like heathens, THEN talk to the apartment manager.

I did mention..if you read my letter more carefully...all 3 of the children were on some kind of gym equipment...they were being disruptive..how can the mother watch if she is trying to exercise? IT is the apt. complex rule..no one under the age of 18 is allowed to use the fitness equipment.....I personally say if you are 16 you should be able to use the fitness equipment but anyone under the age of 16 shouldn't be allowed in there...even if they are accompanied by the parent...people are ridiculous...they would sue if their child got hurt using supposedly unsafe exercise equipment.

Nitwit, contact the manager and ask them what the deal is with the gym - if little kids are allowed to run around in there. I'd think it would be a liability issue, if nothing else. Some squab drops a weight on their foot, and guess who will be discussing things with a lawyer?

the post I just just started this thread with was the exact complain letter I emailed the apt. complex.

But this isn't profitness. It's an apartment comlex gym ... and apparently the other woman had just as much right to be there as Numbnut.
I get tired of these pathetic mommies who feel the need to drag their snot-nose brats with them everywhere they go, then just expect other people to deal with it.

Call me anti-kid, but there are some places where children don't belong - the gym is one of those places. The 14 year old is different - she was using the equipment.

In an apt. complex aren't there rules? If a mom was breaking the rules, then you have a right to complain. Otherwise they have as much right to the equipment as you do. Maybe they couldn't get a sitter?

if you can't get a sitter..you either a) don't go or b) start paying for a membership to pro fitness so someone can be paid to watch your kids..I don't tell my 19mo. old to come with me to the gym and then expect her to sit there for an hour while mommy works out....come on..

Good letter. :yay:

I'm the first one to narc the mommies off if I go to the hotel gym and there are kids all over the place. Tough for them - they should be more considerate.

A gym, I agree. It's a fitness room in an apt. complex. She needs to get a copy of the rules and include it with her gripe.

Or maybe YOU should pay for a gym membership so you're not inconvenienced/annoyed by the mother who's trying to keep herself in shape and not go broke paying for babysitters every night.

Oh cut it out. You're just trying to pick a fight now.

She already DOES pay for a gym membership - it's included in her rent. And if the rules say no brats running around, then that's it. If mommie "goes broke paying for a sitter" that's her problem - she should have thought of how inconvenient it is to have children before she spread out.

If the 14 year old was using the equipment, then she should not complain. Like I said, my 12 year old goes with me and she uses the bike and treadmill, I dont see a problem with that, would I take my other child who would run around, no I would not. But since the kids and the other mother left, she has no reason to complain, they did not bother her.

So does the other mom. And it sounds like she was courteous enough to leave with her kids when Numbnut arrived. From the sounds of things, this has happened one time ... not exactly reason to go whining to the apartment complex manager. :duh:

And if there's a sign in there saying no children under the age of XX, and one of 'em gets hurt, then it sounds like it's on the parent because they're breaking the clearly-posted rules.

I stick with my original comment -- some people just aren't happy unless they're #####ing about something.

...sorry let me clarify for those of you who are obviously not gym goers...: the apt. gym is not very big to begin with..there are six pieces of actualy gym equipment... 2 treadmills, 2 fitness bikes, and one eliptical..there is a weight machine in the middle of the gym along with a bar bell station...max. capacity can't be more than I would say 10 ppl...there were 3 ppl when I got there...a woman on the treadmill, a guy on the weight machine, and the mother with the 3 kids who was using the eliptical..she left after I stared at her and the kids for a minute...wtf is going on? AS soon as she left the guy that was using the weight machine said "And she was here for a while too..." and rolled his eyes...I felt bad for him because he seemed like he was inconveinced. Like I said earlier..you don't have someone to take care of your kids...sorry!! You are SOL Sh!t out of luck
