What do you think? Should this be allowed?

Should children under the age of 18 be allowed in the gym?

High school age, I've got no problem with them. I went to gyms around that time, and sadly, I did better on some of those machines THEN than I do now (definitely was stronger on bench and military press).

Small children haven't any business being in a gym, and even worse unsupervised. There's a reason hotel gyms have disclaimers of 'exercise at your own risk' - you CAN get hurt, and I *have*. If I've managed to crush my finger or jam my toe into some bit of equipment, what's to stop a little kid from doing it? I'm trying to be careful and it still happens. When did a child ever try to be careful, unsupervised?

What would happen to that gym area if a kid got a finger caught in the side of a treadmill, or one of those weights smacked down on his fingers?

:shocking:

I'd hate to think about it. We've been lucky so far and the parents are usually pretty good about keeping the kids under control... once in awhile a lil' one gets loose. :lmao:
