Well, let me ask this, not to get off topic, what if you check this sexual offender out and pull his record on that MD Judicial Court website, and you find that the girl that has cried rape on him as well as two other people, would you say it is her or would you say him?

Just curious! Sorry don't want to start a new topic here.

I do think that maybe check him out first before making a scene at the school about it kinda thing! Chances are, they know he is an offender and I don't know that they can deny him an education can they? Then again I'm not one to keep up with this stuff. :ohwell:

Usually when it is considered "VIOLENT", it is not heresay, it is proven with evidence, so I'm not buying it. I hardly call sending a polite email "making a scene".

I am sorry to inform you, but it is not against the law in the State of Maryland. I am not agreeing with the law, just simply informing you of it. A person 18 years old who engages in sexual intercourse with a 15 year old has not violated any of Marylands laws.

Are you saying that the age of consent is 15 or that an 18 years old who engages in sexual intercourse with a 15 year old is okay because they're within four years of each other like you mentioned earlier?

I have been informed that he doesn't work there, he is a student. There is some fine print at the bottom of the registry that says they either work there, do a program through jail there, or attend....he attends.
i think that they are just pointing out there is another sex offender there, only this one works there.

The college guy is a "violent offender"....rape from being underage nowhere nears falling under this category.

I know that there is a difference in a "violdent offender" but what exactly falls in that catergory? I'm just asking for my own reference, if you are a third degree violent sex offender, what is the difference of being a third degree sexual offender and a third degree violent sexual offender? I would look it up but, I don't want my work to know I'm looking up sexual offender stuff haha!

Tony read the law, the age of the female is above 14 and that of the male is not more than 4 years older so it is not a crime.

Yea, I found it. I certainly learned something today. Wow, fourteen. That’s ninth grade.

For some it could be 4th or 5th grade. :sarcasm:

Ok you guys can just call me the question seeker lol! I am wondering if this is a "new" law? I am 22 now and when I was 14 I was dating someone 17...my parents were fine with it but his were scared that I would cry rape, but when I turned 14(because I have a late bday) he was turning 18 that march? Does that make a difference? Is it still classified as 4 years apart? If so, I wasted so much time then haha..this was in 97..thats why I am asking, I know laws have the tendency to change all the time?

I guess that question would be a start of a new thread, I don't want to get off topic of the "violent offender" in school :) I'm learning today lol :yay:

No, the law was the same as it was in 97.

HYPOTHETICALLY, let's say you attend a community college with a small campus and you discover there is a registered "violent sex offender" (basically includes violent rape or attempted violent rape) attending.

After all of the chat about what VaTech should and should not have done about the crazy shooter guy, what do you think? Should the college take any measures to monitor this dude or let students know about him?

FYI: HYPOTHETICALLY, the president of such college is actively seeking info on this. But what do YOU think.

...this;

Amendment II (the Second Amendment) of the United States Constitution, which is part of the Bill of Rights, declares a well regulated militia as "being necessary to the security of a free State", and prohibits Congress from infringement of "the right of the people to keep and bear arms."

Then you have a little back up if the school doesn't handle it too well.
