What kind of dog to get

I love Texas Road House
Well you can always be locally patriotic and go with a Chesepeake Bay Retriever. I'd never get one myself, being a Dobe fanatic and all, but hey, can't get much closer to home than a Chessie.

:yay:

I like that Idea the best. I will keep them in mind when I call around to the local shelters.

Have you owned dogs before? Chessies do best with an experienced dog owner. They can be difficult, and are not friendly like labs.

My favorite dogs are Heinz 57, a little of this and a little of that...there will be many to choose from at the shelter or through local rescues.

No, this will be my first one. I had a German Shepard when I was a kid but that was a long time ago.

My Mother got a Border Collie mix puppy around the time I was born. This little black/white furball that looked like one of those sheep herding dogs; and I grew up together. She was my protector.....AND VERY INTELLIGENT. When I as growing up (and she was alive) she used to "live in the small attached garage my parents later turned into a family room. Anyway, during a very cold winter Mom brought her inside the house and she did fine; until she started developing cataracts. After that, she would bump into wall corners and things that required peripheral vision. She was 11 or 12 when she got spooked one night and ran off. The next day we found her on 235.....from St. Andrew's Estates.

Sorry......got carried away.....I still miss our Tippi..... :bawl:

Many people say that mixed breeds are smarter. I have found that to be true in many cases. Although.....one of my Uncles had a black lab mix; BIIIG boy; that looked like Scooby Doo. No joke! He had this "HUH? face" and wore it well. He was dumb as a post.
