It would be interesting to know what criteria are used to determine the relative merits of one patient over another when selecting the recipient of a donor organ. I'm sure there must be some established protocol for evaluating all the factors and making a decision.
The kind of decisions needed, and the weight of responsibility, are such that I'd have to believe a board is assembled to make the decisions. But I've not researched this (obviously, since it just came up).
RR, please don't get folks started on this topic! I deal with organ and tissue donation questions almost every day. It's messier than making sausage!
