what song are you listening to?

Another one from Ronnie Hawkins, and I know you know this one. From 1967. It's called "Mary Jane," yet he also does the more familiar "Mary Lou," which appears to be a more upbeat tempo, with the same lyrics.

If you google (via Firef*cks) "Mary Jane," it only returns results about Tom Petty's "Mary Jane's Last Dance." I've always hated Tom Petty, and I'm not sorry about that, or the fact he's dead. I only hate 3 other musicians; Hank Williams Jr., Bruce Springsteen, and Peter "the Sellout" Frampton. May the first 2 burn in the lake of fire. Or Chicago. Whichever is worse.

The only redeeming quality about Frampton is his time with Humble Pie. I won't listen to anything afterward, but I do love me some Humble Pie.

Anyway, I haven't found any explanation as to why Hawkins sang both "Mary Jane," and "Mary Lou." Oh, and not the song by Ricky Nelson. That's "Hello Mary Lou." Oh, did you know there's an actual person named Mary Lou Song? It comes up when you type in Mary Lou song. She was E-Bay's third employee. Or first, if you don't count the two founders. Anyway, if you want to know more about her: https://farley.northwestern.edu/new...21/mary-lou-song-joins-farley-as-adjunct.html

I had my Pandora playlist going while out and about today (I dumped SiriusXM), and was thinking "man, there is so much good music out there that hardly anyone has heard of."

Here is one of them, from Eric Burdon and the Animals' 2nd album, "The Twain Shall Meet" (1968). The song is called "We Love You Lil."

How come you dumped SiriusXM?

1) I never had a consistent listening experience on my computer like I do with Windows Media Player, Pandora, and YT tube Prime.

2) I only go out once a week or so, and then for, at most, 20 minutes at a time. Basically, I wasn't listening to Sirius enough to justify the cost. Plus, with their plans, I'm listening to a few channels, but paying for a bunch that I never listen to, even on the lowest priced plan.

Listing to a YT tube mix when this came up (started with Rare Earth).

I'm a fan of Steely Dan. Probably not a huge fan, but a fan nonetheless.

"Do It Again" (1972).

Been a big fan of the Doors since forever, but in recent years, I pretty much have to be in the mood. From time-to-time that mood strikes me, though.

The classic "Riders on the Storm," from one of the albums in my collection, "L.A. Woman." It was first released as a single in 1971. I'm guessing that it was to promote L.A. Woman, also released in '71.

Not the earliest memories I have of Motown (that would be the Chi-lites), but one of them, and one of the best.

Temptations, "Papa was a Rolling Stone." (1972)

The legendary super band with their equally legendary song, "Stairway to Heaven," from "Led Zeppelin IV" - arguably (or not) their best work.
