I periodically check in on my favorite cover girl, Vika (youtube: vkgoeswild). For those of you unfamiliar, she is a classically trained pianist from Kiev in the Ukraine, who writes her own arrangements of rock, particularly hard rock/heavy metal, and performs them for both live audiences and on youtube.

She's nothing short of awesome! :yahoo:

It's been a while since I checked up on her...really like what she's done with this Doors classic, "Riders on the Storm."

Very nice, haunting. Those fingers were made to work the keyboard.

Johnny Cash's first ever recording on Sun, "Cry, Cry, Cry," and a good song that never received a lot of attention, "Hey Porter!"

Song about, and featuring Luther Perkins on guitar. It was Perkins' stylings that gave Johnny Cash and the Tennessee Two (later Three) their distinctive sound. Interesting to read how that came about: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luther_Perkins

Loved this song since I was a kid. I know, weird kid. Dave Brubeck "Take Five."

Always enjoyed this one as well. Mason Williams, "Classical Gas."

I saw Dennis Agajanian years ago (1970s) at a Billy Graham Crusade in San Diego. I've not listened to him since, in any media, but he was such an amazing guitarist, I've never forgotten him. Most of his music, as you might expect, would be classified as gospel/praise. Here, he starts out with a version of Classical Gas. I'm listening to it for the first time, even as I post, so I'm not sure what he has next in the lineup, just that it'll be good.

I'm still stuck on Pentatonix. It's driving my kids crazy. Put that 60" smart TV on youtube, Pentatonix videos playing over and over - yeah, maybe I am crazy.

But I don't sit and watch, just playing while I'm wandering around doing my thing. Playing LOUD.

The Pentatonix/Lindsey Sterling collab is great.

A few more classics by Mancini. PS: I now have a Pandora station named "Mancini Radio"

What a trip down memory lane this post was.

Baby Elephant Walk...the best tune ever for rink roller skating, Bladensburg Roller Rink.

Peter Gunn...you have to move to that one, sitting here shoulders moving to the beat. My Dad loved that show.In those days with one TV you watched what dad watched or didn't watch. So I have a great appreciation for 'men' TV of the 60's. lol

Pink Panther...Mind goes to all day Saturday matinee .85 cents, same movie three times and they never emptied the theater.

Thanks for sharing.

I am currently listening to the entire Joshua Tree album... if I posted every favorite song I had from that album I'd never get my kitchen cleaned...

Seriously. Everytime I revisit this album I am amazed at how artistic and engaging it is... well played, U2... well played... :yay:
