Try a throttle boss.
It wraps around the end of your throttle, very easy on/off.
You rest the heel of your hand on it so you can relax your grip on the throttle.

I find the concept of locking the throttle in place is a little scary

Cruise control. Us big boys have 'em. Actually, I don't use it much. I still need to rest my hand on the throttle and wind up tripping it off. I just use it for quick breaks to stretch my hand.

I had a throttle lock on my GL1100, hated it. Never worked right. The Throttle Boss is a big improvement.

I think I might take off on 10/2 and ride down to Meadows of Dan. Spend the night in the crappy little hotel there, get some pics at Marbury Mill and then ride back the next day.

There's a crappy $40 a night hotel, a motorcycle campground, 2 general stores and 1 restaurant there.
Excellent place
