I threw together an impromptu picnic with a few of the neighbors. Doing smoked ribs and whatever they bring. Very casual, last minute.
What's his marinade? Always trying to make my ribs better. Mostly I just use a dry rub I found at a store.I worked an estate sale Saturday and yesterday and today am working at the Chesapeake Marketplace. The husband has some ribs marinating for the smoker so I will be happy to come home today
Tomorrow, I will rest. Not used to working three days in a row![]()
Ribs were on sale at Weis, buy one get TWO free. I use a rub from Nicks of Calvert in Prince Frederick, using yellow mustard as a binder to make the rub stick. What's his marinade? Always trying to make my ribs better. Mostly I just use a dry rub I found at a store.
Same process, dry rub in a vacuum bag in the fridge overnight. Just put mine on the smoker at 225*. After 2 hours, spray every 1/2 hour with apple juice. Should be ready by 5pm. Just straight smoking, tho, don't use the 3-2-1.In fact it’s time to put the ribs on. I prepped them last night, put the rub on then wrapped in Saran Wrap, this dissolves the rub and allows the spices to soak in overnight in the fridge, effectively marinating them.
Later today some of my neighbors are going to get together and sing patriotic songs.I threw together an impromptu picnic with a few of the neighbors. Doing smoked ribs and whatever they bring. Very casual, last minute.
I would shoot one of the museum curators at the Marine Corp Museum in Quantico,VA a letter or email and see what they might be interested in.Later today some of my neighbors are going to get together and sing patriotic songs.
On another note, my Uncle Bill was killed in action on Okinawa during World War II. I have his Purple Heart, some photographs and letters that he wrote to his family as well as letters received from a superior officer and a chaplain that were written to his wife. They were stored in boxes for decades in my grandmother's house, and later in my cousin's house for several more year's. I have had them for 10 or 15 years, all the while stored in boxes. I'm going to ask the remaining family members one more time if anyone wants them but even if one of them takes them my concern is that eventually it will all end up in the trash.
Do you guys know of any organizations, or even individuals, that collect and display WWII memorabilia?
