Why are you justifying the name of your child to a total stranger?

Bianca makes me think of rich old white women smoking cigarettes with holders.

My son is Rowan, after my favorite character in an Anne Rice novel, and because it means "Little Red Haired One" in Irish. Since I knew I was having a red head, it fit.

Wasn't one of the mice in an old disney movie - The Rescuers - named Bianca?
Bianca and Bernard I think where their names.
I think it's a cute name!

Our sons name is Zachary. I have seen it spelled Zakarie, Zachery, Zakerrie. and various other ways. My son and girlfriend are naming their little one Kyleigh. I have seen that spelled numerous ways. You should read the Birth announcements in the Independent. See how many ways you can spell kids names.

My 4 month old grand daughter is Kyleigh.

So what constitutes a name as being "normal" anyway?? Popularity? Spelling? With all the "Vote for My Kid" threads, a few times now it's come up where people are slamming a kid's name which is why I'm wondering. And I wonder why anyone would do that? I mean, obviously, the parents liked that name!!

When I was pregnant with my daughter and told my mother what we were planning to name her, she got this look of disgust on her face "Bianca??" I was mortified that she would've said that to me and today I get more compliments on her name. . . . But I'm sure someone here won't like it (and that's okay). But then, that was coming from a woman who mis-spelled Jennifer (to me, any other spelling is wrong - and mine is mis-spelled!)

My sons name is Tony Montana. My mom hates it. I could care less now, but at the time I was upset. The rest of my family likes it.

I named my son Brian - simple, right? No. You would not believe the number of people who have put his name down as Brain. Yes, I think he is very intelligent, but I did not name him after gray matter!

I hate phonetically spelled names - like "Antwan" instead of "Antoine". Freakin' illiterates.

Other than that, I have no name peeves.

I don't like either but I think people do it to be "Different". It's like Stephanie and Stefani or Jacqueline or Jacolyn. Then if you spell it the way it traditionally is spelled, the people get all bent out of shape because it is spelled Jacolyn. What I don't like is why do people have to name their kid Jesus? GUILTY!! I've done it. Not intentionally but when typing the name Brian, I will almost invariably put Brain. Then after I realize it is misspelled, I'll correct it. Still, I do it. Sorry!!

That's an Hispanic thing. Hispanic people have always used Jesus as a name. That also explains the pronunciation. But for people who do that and aren't Hispanic, I'd have to agree with you.

You might have gotten a "surprise" on the baby's hair color! You never know when genetics will throw in a twist or a throwback from somewhere. My first husband and I are both blond and all 3 of our children are blond but now one of my grandchildren is a strawberry blond throwing back to my ex-husband's father who was a red-head even though my son married another blond.

My hubby and I both have dark brown hair, and my oldest son have dark brown hair. However, my baby have blonde hair. He got his blonde hair because all males on my side of family are born with blonde hair.

Every couple of years, my grandmother starts lamenting the fact that my mother has green eyes, when everyone else in the family has blue.

Really, my baby have blonde hair because it is in our gene. My brother, Dad, Grandpa, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa, Uncles, etc. all were born blonde hair and then later turned to brown hair when they got older. Some didn't lose thier blonde hair at all.

Not only does it flag you as coming from illiterate genes, but your more likely to be arrested.

Just for ####s and giggles, I looked up both spellings in case search.

Antwan = 16 pages
Antoine = 15 pages (with Antoinettes and Antoinettas included)
