What's the secret

STEELERS NATION!!
What's the secret to blowdrying and brushing a little girls hair? Every time that I do it, it seems like I'm ripping her hair out and she starts crying saying that it hurts. Should I blowdry it first then brush it when it dries or brush it wet? And her hair seems to have alot of knots in it. Being a single dad to a little girl is harder than I thought.

Use lots of conditioner brush wet. Dry completely, brush again. I hope that helps.

Brush while wet it helps with the knots. Then dry her hair and brush again. If you need it buy some detangler. Target has their brand for like $1.00 and it works or else Johnson and Johnson has some...

Yep. I have two little girls and go through this enough. The oldest has curly hair so I have figured out the secret. I give them their bath before bed so in the morning before school I have to use the detangler to brush her hair for school.

:yeahthat:

Instead of the heat setting, use warm or cold....use high setting for the air till about half-way dry....brush....turn to medium or low on the air and brush as you finish drying

You could also braid it up or put it in a tie while wet, that way you don't really have to worry about combing it out in the morning....just pull the few strays back and put a barrett in to hold it

Now you're asking an awful lot from me.:killingme

But wait, there's more...
The problem is you don't start with a brush. You start by spraying hair with a detangler, then comb through (while wet) with a wide-tooth comb, then comb through with a narrow-tooth comb. Then blow-dry while combing through with either fingers or the wide-tooth comb. If you want to run a brush through, wait until hair is dry, or it will tangle/knot it up, not to mention split the ends, making tangles/knots more common/frequent.

Again, in the morning, wide-tooth comb first, then brush. :yay:

Should I not do that? I blowdry it so if she lays down on her bed her pillow won't get all wet. I know, I guess thats a dumb reason.

Blow drying is good! If she sleeps wet, you will have massive tangles.:huggy:

My mom use to do it for me when I was a kid because she thought if you went to bed with wet hair you would get sick. I dont blow dry my girls hair. I dry it as best I can with the towel then brush it. I have used a blowdryer a couple times but both of them their hair dries fast....

I have never blowdryed my daughters and it don't take very long to dry. I didn't know if there was a reason behind why you blowdry.

Luvin Life !!!
Towel dry first after bath ( this means squeezing the hair between the towel to get excess water out.) Be gentle Dad. Then spray lightly with a detangler J& J is the best. Use a wide tooth comb, work from the root area to the bottom of her hair. If you feel a knot use the teeth of the comb to loosen it and gently work it out and downward. Use the cool seetting on the hair dryer as the hotter settings can hurt or give a burning sensation to a young child's tender scalp. Good Luck and how old is your little one? Mine is 10 this year and it has only been in the last year that she was able to handle this on her own.
