When is it going to stop

But it's interesting when people get sucked into a conspiracy theory that has no basis in evidence. You ask them why they think that, and they say they read it in a book somewhere. So somehow this book gained authority over the person's mind, where hundreds of books to the contrary didn't?

I personally know someone who thinks the 9/11 attacks were faked - didn't happen - and nothing will sway him. Questioning the details of 9/11, sure - that's reasonable. But denying it happened at all? Wow.
I have general theory that the reason people, who appear at first glance to be sane and rational, will gobble up a conspiracy theory has something to do with a deep-seated need to explain something away that they see as threatening to their understanding of life..the world etc. Practically the same thing that motivates people to cling to a religion..join a cult...etc etc. Some deep-seated need for an "answer" that resolves some internal existential conflict that could otherwise be debilitating if not "dealt with".

....or an electric boat. ;-p Speaking of that....we were invited to participate in a couple projects in Norway involving all-electric or hybrid-electric passenger ferries. Be a great thing for them ...they have wildly unlimited electrical power on tap in that country., and a lot of fairly short ferry routes. And heck, my Norwegian son drives a Tesla.

Norway has huge hydropower capacity, yes. That's the reason why they are such a role model for the misguided greenies....morons that don't understand how and why that works for Norway.

Our little house on the family farm ( ex's little house..where my son grew up) in Seljeset, Norway is powered by a vintage Peltier water turbine. If I recall the thing was built in the late 30s. Hydro-electric power is produced all over the country, on scales from tiny to massive. Since our water is gravity-fed and much of the heat is from burning wood, electrical power requirement is low.

From pictures i've seen I'm guessing a lot of 'tidal' generation facilities.

All of those fjords should be good for it.

Having BEEN in a cult, you're partly right - people who join cults aren't crazy - they are idealistic. Ten years in, I can tell you that without hesitation. And that idealism can blind them to what might otherwise be plain good sense. We had PhD's, Harvard and MIT grads - smart folks. They were NOT stupid - they just believed they could change the world. And they were willing to have a little tunnel vision to keep it.

Actually this touches upon something that's annoying me about shows my wife and I watch - they're constantly portraying criminals as motivated by absolutely NOTHING but hate. Racists who work all day and night to pull wings off flies. People don't think that way, at least, not SANE people. Dangerous people are usually SMART, and have deluded themselves to believe they are helping others.

I've seen a few lately that centered around anti-Asian hate - a somewhat sensitive topic, because my youngest is Chinese, as are many of her friends. But what they never show is something most of us know is statistically pertinent - most of it has been done by POC. THAT isn't ever going to be something addressed.

Another show - same thing, asian hate - assailed law enforcement as being unwilling to help victims of hate. How did they phrase it? Well, there were no witnesses - no evidence - no leads - and much of the time, minor damage. But not finding the perp was ascribed to a systemic racist system. Well how DO you commit police resources to investigate a crime where there's nothing to go on? MOST crimes go unsolved, for that reason. It's not racist, it hits anyone who gets mugged or vandalized.

Piece 'o cake. Use a big ol' turbo diesel to drive an electric generator, and spin the electric motors from that. No batteries needed. :yay:

Sometimes we don't know what to believe. I certainly believe the holocaust was real but it was not
only Jews who were murdered it was homosexuals gypsy's Catholics and retards.
I believe Roosevelt knew that Pearl Harbor was going to be bombed.
I believe Donald Trump was cheated out of the Presidency.

I believe the Democrat party is one of the most dangerous things Americans face today.

True dat. And I am a big questioner of the approved narrative and believe often that what we're being told is bullshit. But at some point you have to look at information presented and what you know personally from your own experience, and come to a conclusion.

I suppose it's possible that everyone in the world is lying about the Holocaust, including Jewish prisoners AND their guards, but it's not probable or even semi-likely. There are Hitler's own writings. There is freaking video. There are interviews with people who were there. There is documentation up the yang.

To take all that evidence and go, "Nah, didn't happen..." is some batshit stuff.
Here's what is different. Anyone can talk about how the Catholic church killed during the Inquisition period. Or speak ill of the Church regarding pedophile priests. Or rail against all things Muslim. Talk about any religion, cult, and any dirty deeds. Even speak their thoughts about atheists.

However, question, or say anything negative, about jews in general, or about Israeli polices, or the level of positions jews have attained in government, play both sides of an issue, or that they control the financial sector and nearly all media outlets and Hollywood? Oh hell no. Off to purgatory you go. Immediately one is labeled antisemitic, a nazi, a jew hater, a denier of "facts".

That is the result of a lifetime of brainwashing and propaganda.

Well I say eff that. If the light of truth reveals certain things, so be it. If you want to ignorantly remain in the dark, to your own demise, that's fine as well.

It's not likely to stop, republicans have won 1 popular vote in the prior 6 elections or 24 years. A quarter of a century, one popular vote won. but still have won half of the presidential elections by the closest of margins

hopefully enough people realize what's going on so we can continue to scrape by at this 50/50 rate

As for gas I don't see any reason for it to significantly decrease in the next 3 years. I think we will settle around $7 for unleaded. There's never been a better opportunity for the green energy agenda. They can sacrifice low-approval Biden on the green alter, send him to the retirement home in 2024 and put up a fresh face with a clean slate with a 50/50 chance at winning (especially if it's against trump) I love trump but he drives a coalition of liberals just as much as conservatives.

Before covid, under trump, things couldn't be much better economically speaking. That was quickly overlooked by voters in the election and we face the dire economic consequences now. So voters did not reward trump, I doubt they will punish biden in the same sense.

If things get relatively stable such as inflation, gas prices I think Biden wins re-election against Trump and wins 55/45 against any other candidates. If it continues being a complete disaster for 3 more years they might have a better shot. Historically it's hard to oust a sitting president, trump being an unfortunate rare exception, in large part due to his bizarre behavior. A lot of voters are low information, they don't consider policies the president will implement and the likely consequences of those policies, read tweets and voting for the "nice old guy" is a lot easier.

For the same reason our country is likely doomed, we are only as good as the individuals that comprise our country.

Why,someone that says this ought to know why, I for one cannot figure it out, why did Hitler hate the Jews ,why do the Arabs hate the Jews, God gave them that land if that is part of the problem
For some reason there is a conspiracy group on the Right (and left) that believe jews somehow control the world

They are morons and don't help our cause
