I'm in the Lexington Park area and am looking to buy some fresh (uncooked) shrimp for a receipe. Any suggestions on where to purchase them? I've heard the seafood section at Giant is pretty good.

Shoppers Food Warehouse in San Souci usually has a good selection and very good prices. Also have the 10-20 count big ones

A Food Network show called Good Eats I watched about a month ago said that you really gain nothing by buying fresh shrimp. There is no taste lost when freezing shrimp, and by buying fresh you are unsure how old they are or what chemicals have been added to keep them looking fresh. He said to just buy block frozen shrimp and let them thaw.

99% of raw shrimp you will buy in this area are previously frozen and thawed. That being said there is nothing wrong with that as long as they haven't been sittting around, but like was said previously your best bet is to buy the 5 lb block that way you can decide when they are thawed. Also some of the stores give like a 10% discount if you buy 5 lbs or more at once.
