Where's a good rib/bbq place?

Smokey Joe's (above gate 1) is actually very good. Make sure you get BBQ sauce if you do take out...and positively try their jerk chicken, carolina bbq, and pulled pork.

Bear Creek (Callaway) in terms of ribs is not my first choice. They are usually tough... and just not that great. Other stuff is pretty good, and I love all the stuffed animals.

Dales Smokehouse (Indian Head) has positively the best ribs in the region. I've tried them all, and these are stand out... I know it's not St Mary's but I don't mind travelling for the best. Infact...having them tonight!!

I'm about to get in my car and head to Adam's Ribs, and just read the last post. Bear Creek doesn't have anything for one of our vegetarians. I noticed Otter isn't on line anymore and likes Adam's. Anyone logged on that can tell me something good about Adam's?? I'm minutes away from leaving!

They don't have any salads? I wouldn't want to be the vegetarian ordering dinner at Bear Creek. :lmao:

I prefer Boomerangs to Jethro's, then you can walk to Annie's for ice cream.
:yeahthat: Boomerangs has very good ribs. So does Adams. Haven't had Bear Creeks yet.

Damons has tasty ribs too.

They call me ... Sarcasmo
River's Edge in Benedict. The guy who owned Charlotte Hall House of Ribs owns it and he has the same ribs there. :yay: :yay:

They make good drinks. Just be careful of the after effects. Rumor has it that a certain forumite woke up after someone damn near gave them an enema. :yikes:

you must be refering to rosie's and those werent ribs, they were dancers

Ummm...no. I have never been in Rose's Place and have no plans either.

It was Bear Creek and I wasn't the only person who thought the food wasn't all that great.

Yeah, I know I asked for St. Mary's, but Calvert area is okay too. I just didn't want DC or Waldorf area because I don't want to drive an hour to eat. Thanks to everyone for your posts.

Hmm but Famous Daves is so good .........

Sorry i cannot speak for the local Calvert & St Mary's Eats

:yeahthat: I agree with you!! They have the best ribs, and potato salad. This place is worth the drive, but you should call first if it is getting late in the day, as sometimes they run out.

I agree, Famous Daves is very good for franchise eats. I have eaten at Famous Daves and each meal was awesome. There is a place just south of LaPlata but I cannot recall the name that's pretty darn good too.

Agreed!!! I always make a point to stop in there whenever I'm down in that area. That is the one thing I miss about Charles county since moving to St. Marys. There just isn't a really good BBQ joint close by.

NOT Politically Correct!!
Bear Creek BBQ in Callaway, the best if you and the family don't mind a hundred dead animals nailed to the wall staring at you while you eat!!! :coffee:

The best place I have found, and I have tried most of the places listed is on the northbound side of 301 up by LaPlata. I can't think of the name right now but its a little shack on the side of teh road.

Come Play at BigWoodys
Ok in order LOL.

I think its Randy's Ribs in Hughesville. Take out only but some damn good ribs.

Adams Ribs in PF rocks. Their smoked ham is killer btw. Atmosphere is very nice at Adams.

Jethro's - Good for icecream and I hear breakfast is good but Im not a fan of their barbecue sauce. Food was just ehh ehh when we went there this weekend. Kiddo's loved the french fries though LOL.

Havent tried boomerangs yet but thats next on my list.

Oh and the Barbecue place on 235 just north of Gate 1 seems to be good. Had lunch there a couple weeks ago. More of a take out kinda place also though.
