I wanna be a SMIB
its not like they're riding around all day on the bus.

Look, I used to be a bus driver and the roads were too icy this morning. I slid into my parking spot at work, would you of wanted me to slide into my bus spot with your kids on board.

hmmmmmm
Do you hate spending time with your kids that much?

Not at all, we have a great time together, and my child LOVES school. Its not like he is going to be up my butt all day because he is so bored. He is out playing right now, looking for bugs (he found some!) and is very good at entertaining himself. Could care less about video games, would rather crack open a book or watch National Geographic or Animal Planet.

Really I'm just happy I didn't have to work today because that would be one more day I didn't get paid for because I had nobody to watch my child.

At 7:00 a.m. (when my kids would have gotten on the bus) my road in California was one solid sheet of ice. It was very still icy at 8:45 when I left for the doctor's office, so two hours late would not have done any good. My area is a very woody area and the sunshine doesn't hit the roads until the afternoon.

As much as you might disagree, I believe the right call was made for the safety of all. One child hurt is one too many.

I have kids and I agree with their decision, it was just an inconvenience
, life is full of them you just have to have a Plan B and move forward, crying about life doesnt make things better, you just adapt.

so, you're just pizzed because you can't send your kid to the free babysitter even though multiple people in different areas have said that not ALL of the roads were safe this morning.

nobody really

I need a nap
Why shut down for the whole day? The roads are clear, they have been since 8am. Why not open 2 hours late? Good thing I didn't have to work today! This is the second unecessary "snow" day of the school calendar. It just burns me up.

:banghead:

bus accident in lusby this am (posted on another thread), no kids on board. better safe than sorry

I would? Because again let me say to you that the roads WERE NOT icy here at 8am.

you could always run for president of the BOE. Then send 'em off to school on a morning like today, and i'm sure you'd get lots of calls from parents thanking you for sending their lil ones out on the roads. you could then tell 'em f you, toughen up, just think of the long summer they'd have.

Where you live the roads might not of been, however they take into account the majority of the roads and I guess your road wasnt part of the majority:shrug:

do you really feel like our schools are free babysitters?[/I] Because my son learns various subjects such as reading, writing, math and science just a few.

I guess its just strange to me because it really wasn't that bad here and I hadn't really thought about the little pockets of places that have no sun.

I remember in my day, when I was a young las, whe had to very little snow days. The bus came when there was snow on the roads. I guess its a different world these days...
