Why Are There So Many Idiots in Politics?

Well, if we look at Bernie Sanders, the only reason he's in politics is because nobody would hire him.. he could never hold down a job, let alone a career.. and couldn't even get being a gofer right. Other than politics he was totally worthless to society..

Think of the Senate as welfare, but you have to show up once or twice a month to actually collect.

In fact he is still totally worthless to society. But he has 3 houses and millions of dollars now Thanks to Politics.

Democracy is the culprit. The average person is retarded. Therefore we are voting in mostly retards into office, with retards making important bills and laws with their votes.

As long as we are ruled by the mob (democracy) we will be mediocre at best, dangerously incompetent at worst

For your consideration ...

signs that you live in a dictatorship:

- the "markets" are illogically FUBAR
- rigged election system that you cannot fix
- people running for office go along with rigged election system
- govt routinely breaks laws and people are powerless to stop it
- govt not enforcing some, many, laws
- govt enforcing only laws they choose to
- govt declares emergency/crisis conditions to sidestep the law
- big tech and govt collaborate to track you
- big tech and govt collaborate to censor you on social media
- big pharma and govt collaborate to declare control over your body
- govt has all the power and you have none
- all “news” is controlled to create the illusion that you don’t live in a dictatorship
- some people are aware and know they are powerless to stop any of it
- most of them give up out of hopelessness and go along with it
- some - very few - fight back in vain and get nowhere, or worse
- some know it but deny it and go along with it

I'm convinced more than ever that in order to qualify to run for any public office, you need to have been successful at a real, blue-collar job, even if you were later successful at a white collar career. Even if you were a doctor, a lawyer (especially a lawyer), or any kind of white collar worker, if you didn't get your hands dirty and develop calluses on them, you're not qualified.

Note that that does not include being a part-time bartender and stripper in college.

Once again reinforcing the FACT that people in these positions will only work hard enough to keep their jobs. Nothing more, nothing less. Unfortunate.
And really all they have to do is find a way to reward people for doing a good job. They used to have a program where they gave cash awards - usually no more than a hundred bucks - if your boss called for it, for a job you did. Also had smaller "prizes" on different levels, kind of like at the county fair, where you could choose your "gift". It didn't last long, because no one's going to bust their ass for a small cash prize only for the higher ups to say, nah, we need the cash for something else. I think I got a couple cash awards, and some office stuff as prizes.

The BIG problem THERE is - the union. Used to be you got huge bonuses for a great review, big ones for a good one - and no one else got anything. Nope. Now everyone gets something. Oh, you still get more for a great review - but it's a fraction of a percent.

I mean, imagine if you got a 5% cash award for a good review. Granted, it's not a salary increase - but damn. Nope.

Was talking about the bonus structure with my neighbors this past weekend. Apparently, their bonus equates to about 1-1.5% of their salary! What is that? Someone making $80K as an engineer and they get $1K bonus is like a slap in the face!

Was also told that the GOV gives time off as a bonus instead of cash. In the conversation, my neighbor told me that they got a bonus of about $1K. Great however, another worker in their office got 10 vacation days awarded to them. Figuring that those 2 weeks of vacation time add up to an entire paycheck.... who got the better deal?

Largest one I've gotten was a 5.5k, but that was under the old NSPS during a year of a pretty substantial general increase.

A friend of mine in the pharma industry regularly gets a 30% bonus.

Can't tell you how many shirts I've gotten that don't fit. I'm 6'5" and they gave me a medium once.

My neighbor said that there a 2 types of systems. One is STIR and the other is MAP(??) They told me that they are a MAP employee and that they have gotten the best job evaluation they can get for the last 2 years but, their performance bonus has really never gone up. I asked them "Why do you perform so well when it is obviously not rewarded?" They told me "They do it so that the military gets a good product." There are good workers in the Government but I was like DAMN! Hard to keep performing at such a high level when all you get is the same old scraps every year!

P.S. Sorry for the massive thread de-rail.
