Not sure how you equate vigilantism as the same thing as the rule of law by a government entity...

As I could have predicted, you missed my point. I've raised this scenario before. You have a daughter, she is kidnapped by some really brutal thugs that will rape, torture and kill her. You, however, were fortunate enough to catch one of them; and he knows where they are keeping her. What would you do to get your daughter back. Leave LE out of this. If you had the opportunity, what would YOU do to find out where she is?

Does that frame my comparison any better for you? Or do I need to go slower for you?

You see Forest this about saving inncent lives. I don't care about being the good guy. I care about saving innocent lives.

And BTW... I'm not a Republican. :smack: You should stop defaulting to your same old lame comments and come up with something new for once.

At least when we tortured them we kept them alive and treated them better then any world prison, since a$$es like you have issues with a naked dog pile or two we now turn them over to third party countries who don't listen to idiots like you and do as they please without fear of retribution so regardless, we still torture...:coffee:

This is too easy. Torture the one you captured until he talks. Get your daughter back. Then kill the whole bunch.......very slowly. :yay:

One thing is certain, the guys being tortured (if that is the proper word) are not soldiers.

They are the lowest form of scum on the earth. They are people who plant and build bombs that blow up innocents. They dont wear uniforms or belong to any recognised government,they wear their civilian clothes ,mix in with people and then kill worse than predatary beasts. They do not love their own children as they would plant suicide bombs on children They do not love their women as they would plant their bombs on pregnant women , They seek out female mental patients from nut houses and then blow them up.They do not recognise practitioners of their own faith as they kill each other when no one else is around to kill. They cut off people heads for sport.

Waterboarding isnt for payback, its to get vital information that may save lives.

When you are fighting scum like this you do what ya gotta do.

Lets send Barrack Hussein Obama to Gitmo to get information with his "talk", see what he comes home with.I am sure he can convert these folks with a Goody two shoes approach.

They are not soldiers in an accepted definition of the word. Yet you have to remember that this word game has been played with us also.
The Vietnamese were able to hold our men that they captured as "war criminals" as opposed to "prisoners of war". Prisoners of war are entitled to rights as defined by the Hague and Geneva Conventions, in the fact that in the nation (s) holding them , they (the POWs)are protected under universally accepted terms. They cannot be subjected to torture of any form and they must be allowed access to by neutral powers tht see that the rules are followed.
The definition of "War Criminals" was decided by our own Nuremburg Trials as those not protected under the aforementioned agreements for crimes "against humanity". This is in itself subject to a very broad definition. In other words, this is a double edged sword, as it could be a threat against our own taken by the other side.
This is not to say that we can't use "persuasive pretexts" in order to achieve goals beneficial to our position. The thing we have to get rid of is this notion of being "good guys". If saving our country involves using other than "ethical"methods, then so be it. You can argue philosophy in its proper place: a class room.
Be prepared also to realze that the other side thinks on a like slant.

Don't care what they call us. The rest of the world already thinks of the US as bad guys so we can sh!tcan our high ideals that we are the good guys. There are those that still think we can project that image in the world, but they are the same people that think we can fight a "nice" war. They're smoking something. If the other guy chops off the heads of 10 of ours, we must chop off 100 of theirs otherwise we can't win. You can't win a war with pigs without wallowing in the ####.
