Why can't we use torture?

Do you understand that the dicey policies we've undertaken to keep that economy going gave birth to this Terror War business in the first place?

Ah, the old ridiculous charge that it is WE, the US, that is creating terrorists; as if they wouldn't exist without us. It asserts that there was this big plot to commit “dicey policies” in order dredge up a war with the Arabs. This is the sort of unsubstantiated rhetoric that inflicts fear in people of our own government as apposed to those that really want us all dead. This is not a perfect country, but, as Larry wrote, this country has (above all other countries) maintained the high ground. With all the good the US done in this world in our short history and all you can come up with is how evil we are. What drives a person to so focus on the small percentage of mistakes we've made and ignore the greater good we have done?

as a result we were able to stop it from happening – tens of thousands of lives were saved – is torture worth the price of life saved?

As long as there are no witnesses and I don't have hear about it in the NYT, LAT, The Washington Compost (thanks CWO), I really don't give a damn what happens to Al Q terrorists / Insurgents / Islamofascists behind closed doors .........

These people are not Soldiers in a declared war, they are not part of a standing army wearing Uniforms making them easy to ID .... the load up cars and trucks full of explosives, bury bombs in the road, kidnap and murder innocent civilians just trying to do a job to make things better in Iraq, Snipe at our Troops from groups of women and children, strap homicide bombs onto women with mental disorders,

Think about what / who we are dealing with ........ burial in Pig carcasses is just fine fro me ....... no 72 Virgins for you Achmed
